2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son attended kinder at Gardner and struggled a lot. He was given an IEP (Individual Education Plan) for Special Needs one month before end of school year. I had been asking for help all year, to get help, for an assessment testing to be done on him. He is a bright child and gifted but the education system I feel has failed him. He scored average to above average academically but low on behavior and pragmatic language as he is in the spectrum/has autism. He is extremely intelligent, truly a talented smart boy, but he has suffered so much while attending school as he is not being undertood as a child with special needs before and after his assesment Since he started kinder the difficulties have only gotten worse. Bullying is one of the problems especially for him with autism. Teachers not undertstanding his triggers, sensitivity to noise and changes and need for extra time to transiton. I plan to homeschool my child starting in the fall 2025. I wish for no parent to ever go through the pain, frustation and challenges we went through. Hoping the best for all other families, but the educational system isn't what is best for my son, our experience here was not the best.Parent Review1y ago9 Reviews - Willow Glen High School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe principal, Amy Hanna has greatly increased communication at WGHS. Parents were frustrated with the previous principal, but Ms. Hanna writes an extensive weekly newsletter, holds parent coffees and if available to talk in person if you make an appointment. Her communication, transparency, and ability to listen are unparalleled for a principal - and I've had kids in SJUSD schools for 16 years.WGHS has an amazing diversity of classes and extra curricular activities for all students: every sport you can imagine, drama, band, choir, dozens of AP classes; my kids have never been lacking in opportunities. The community in Willow Glen is unsurpassed. Parents form life-long friends and return to events with their Ram spirit. You can't go wrong with Willow Glen High.Parent Review1y ago9 Reviews - Check out schools near Mc Lellan Ave.

"There's a park near the entrance to the neighborhood, there are children's playgrounds, basketball court, and bbq pits & tables. There have been numerous small parties and some sports on the field. Many times, we have gathered on certain holidays to watch fireworks, enjoy a bonfire, pass by with walking cute & exotic dogs, and sometimes participate with HOA in Open House availabilities."

"Tons of unhoused encampments. Sometimes they take dogs. Dogs go missing here all the time. Nextdoor is helpful to posting lost & found."

"Too much construction (extended). I. The direct flight path of the airport, and right next to the railroad tracks. You get used to it, and the homes are new and over 2k sq ft. Just depends if you can live life in paradise in the hood. "
