Canyon is a mess. It’s hard to believe that a school like this has been allowed to continue operating. During our two years at the school, we saw numerous safety issues that weren’t just minor - they were beyond the pale. They have zero campus security with random people wandering onto campus and into the school. They have had almost 100 percent turnover in the 2 years we were there. The curriculum is nonexistent and the teachers don’t communicate with each other. We have never seen such dysfunction and wish we would have listened to the people who left last year. Now we are scrambling to find a school that actually cares enough to keep our kid safe and perhaps teach her a thing or two. There is a weird issue where the people who are from Canyon treat the people from outside of Canyon like they are not really welcome. It’s especially bad if you are a person of color (unless they want to tokenize you, which they will). It’s overall just an awful school where the staff have zero accountability. We thought Canyon would be a special place, but it’s truly a nightmare. I feel so bad for the kids who don’t have a choice as to where they go to school.

My children attended Miramonte High School for six years, one daughter graduated in 2020 during the beginning of the pandemic, and my other children completed up to their senior year on line. Miramonte has one of the best curriculums and plans that allow the students to earn a diploma equivalent to an associate degree in college, as well as a well rounded group of electives that enhances their social and educational skills. The sports program is TOP NOTCH! The faculty genuinely cares for the students and their success not only at the school, but life in general. I drove my children 21 miles one way to go to Miramonte as we lived out of district, but it was well worth the trip and extra effort to insure my children received a quality education and secure their future.
