Moving to the suburbs was a big decision for my family and I put a lot of effort into "school district shopping". I had more-or-less settled on either Upper Dublin or Wissahickon school districts as they are pretty comparable by the numbers, but one of the deciding factors for me was how every parent I spoke to just beamed about LGE... and I have to say, six years later having put two of my four children through Lower Gwynedd Elementary, I totally get it. It's not just the impressive academic support and programs they offer, there is just an overwhelmingly positive attitude from the teachers and the parents and a general atmosphere of inclusivity. Every year I'm always impressed with how well the teachers know my kids already by the first parent-teacher conference. Both my boys had Mr. Bell for 3rd grade and he really inspired them to love school; the growth and academic maturity they showed at the end of the year versus the beginning just blew my mind. That said, all the teachers really demonstrate a focus on a growth mindset. It's just such a warm welcoming place, I can't recommend it highly enough... My oldest son now has a close group of friends he's met through participation in the strings program and enrichment classes; my 2nd son also has his close group of friends through playing basketball and baseball... they're such different kids but they both have felt right at home at LGE :)

Issues with administration, student safety and teacher turnover. Kids are bullied but the perpetrators are not addressed or held accountable. Incidents are not reported to parents when they happen

I graduated from Wissahickon in 2004 and since the, both of my sisters have graduated as well. I feel the high school well prepared me for college and provided diverse opportunities for all interests. The staff was academically supportive and I was able to build leadership and social skills through various after school activities. I had adequate help both in applying for and choosing the right college for me. I was able to meet my own academic needs by creating a schedule of both standard and honor classes .
