NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child went at Calhoun Elementary from PreK to 2nd grade. We loved the principal, Mrs. Buford. After my child being there for only 2weeks, she started greeting him by first and last name at car drop off and pick up. I noticed she did this for each child as the walk in the hallway, at car drop off and pick up. That was very special to me and made me feel she knew the children. I never encountered any problems with any of the teachers. My child's teachers were all very good with his learning disability.Parent Review12y ago5 Reviews - Calhoun Middle School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is one of the most awesome schools. The teachers really strive to teach the children all that they need to know for the future grades and the grade that they are in as well. Could not ask for better parental involvement, and staff. It is like a family in side of the school, where everyone is really nice, and has good attitudes, and strive to get involved in activities and sports, and everyone pretty much knows everyone. I am so thankful the we have this school and the staff, could pass for a private type school in my opinion.Parent Review15y ago2 Reviews - West Ouachita High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWOHS uses a ridiculous block schedule. In theory, the teachers should be teaching two lessons per day because the students see their teacher every other day. In reality, some teachers only teach a lesson if that and the students play on their phones or do whatever for the rest of the time. It’s sad that our children can’t get the education they deserve. If you visit the school and walk the hallways, you will see several kids sleeping and not doing anything. Someone needs to make some changes. And they wonder why their scores were lower. It didn’t have anything to do with COVID! It’s the teachers not doing their jobs!! Sincerely, Concerned ParentParent Review4y ago4 Reviews - Check out schools near Loop Rd.

"Sometimes it can be a little chaotic depending on school traffic. Would be much better also if the train didn’t stop traffic almost every morning. But for the most part it’s not to bad. Evening commute is by far the easiest "

"We bought our house here 23 years ago. It used to have lots of children at play, but they’ve all grown up, married and moved away, and our community is more like a retirement area now. It’s quiet and MOST HOMES are owned by the residents…not a lot of renters around here. "

"The only real event I know of is the Redneck Christmas parade every year. I don’t attend it. Halloween brings Trick-or-Treaters. Unfortunately, after 23 years of living here, we hope to move to an area with more for our grandson to participate in, without our having to drive 30 minutes to get him to a fun event. "
