4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThere are many reasons that I, as a student, think this school is bad. Many kids cheat on quizzes and tests and the teachers do not do a good job on helping students actually learn. Many people I know have bad grammar and spelling, and many use AI to help them. Theres a ton of drama and fights and we had 2 threats and nobody even payed attention the second time, because I only knew when i got to school that day about the threat. If you are a parent, it can be a good school, but I highly do not recommend this school.Student Review8mo ago11 Reviews - Menlo Park Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children go to this school, it's a horrible school! The worst I have ever seen! Staff do not care about your children or their safety! Children with special needs will only be victimized and traumatized here! Playground is unsafe with very dangerous metal rebar sticking out of the ground! School smell's horrible and the bathroom's are disgusting and unsanitary! Meal's are horrible and always served cold, children will starve here! Principal Sarah Phillips is hardly ever seen, teacher's are only worried about pay, not your student or learning needs! School nurse is even worse! Let alone the behavioral specialist that will traumatized your child and treat them like a criminal! Menlo Park requires a change and should be monitored and assessed!Parent Review10mo ago11 Reviews - David Douglas High School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDavid Douglas’ current student here, I would not recommend anyone to this school. Racism, hatred, vaping,… are increase year by year in this school, and the school staff or teacher, even principal show no signs of being concerned about the matter. They just talked about it in Advisory and didn't care about this issue after that. The lunch food is disgusting. My parents even discuss about some problem to the school's survey but did not receive any response. They don't care about any complaints from parents. And don't expect to receive any useful support because they only give superficial help and hope you won't bother them too much.Student Review2y ago10 Reviews - Check out schools near Levy code 113.

"I drive 2 miles to work and a 1/2 mile is my daughter’s school even though there is a bus. Max also is near but I don’t feel it’s safe."

"SE Portland is full of parks and is very dog friendly. People need to pick up after their pets better though. It's quite disgusting. "

"No one picks up after themselves, and you will walk by violently mentally- ill people at any time. it is not safe nor is it clean enough. I have also found needles in the street and sidewalks. "

"A lot of people in this area on the main streets look like they’re suffering from severe addiction, mental illness, and homelessness. I’ve definitely smelled burning substances near the max station and while walking to food trucks or the nature trail. I would not be comfortable letting kids or teenagers walk around this neighborhood, especially without adult supervision. I’ve seen city trash cans on fire, a churchyard on fire, and heard loud gunshots both during the day and night. I feel like most of Portland has become pretty unsafe at this point, but the vibe in this neighborhood feels more sketchy than some other areas."

"Hazelwood is a very diverse neighborhood made up of mostly homeowners and families. It’s a walkable, kid and dog friendly neighborhood that feels like a melting pot, much more than other areas. We love our neighborhood, everyone is friendly and says hi on our walks. "

"This neighborhood is no longer safe. Condemned buildings, homeless camp and trash everywhere . People race their cars down the street "

"Sidewalks are not well suited for walking dogs due to the mailbox locations. Lately a bunch of young muscle car enthusiasts have started racing down the streets. There have been a number of police incidents within a couple hundred feet from my house. I cannot wait to move."

"There is a dog park, of sorts, and there are a couple of parks nearby, but dogs still need to be on a leash at the parks. The parks also seem to be a hub for other, nefarious, activities. The sidewalks are hard to walk with your dog."

"Great access to light rail and the transit station. Another thing I like about this neighborhood is we are in close proximity to freeways and you are in the middle of the mountains the beach, downtown etc. Also the airport is about a 10 minute drive from my house. Not everybody works downtown. I love where I live."

"Easy access to shopping, dining, and the MAX. Also: a nearby police station, hospital, schools and the East County Parks & Rec. Off the major streets tends to be quiet, although one does hear the occasional ambulance for the hospital. Pet-friendly."

"it's a little pocket of nice small homes that are well established. Most homes are owner occupied and the turnover is small. People take pride in the area and their homes. It is convenient to transit, shopping, a large community center, and entertainment. The Jade district is just blocks away as is Portland Community College. "

"There were over 4,000 crimes reported in the hazelwood neighborhood in 2018. Don’t believe me? Check the local police log. I wish we had researched before moving here, the rent was cheap but now we know why. It’s UNSAFE. "

"My neighborhood is made up of young couples with small kids, parents with teens as well as those who have been there done that and are in the beginning of a new stage of life. There are stores, restaurants, schools, and entertainment areas all around, most within walking distance. The neighbors are friendly yet not busibodies, helpful yet not pushy. It's a great neighborhood to start in as a young couple, have a family in and grow old in. I looked around before I settled here and I'm glad I did. This neighborhood feels like home. "
