"A lot of crackheads around, keep your doors locked at night and all valuables locked up. Make sure your vehicle are secure with either alarm or kill switch because you might wake up with your vehicle gone."
    • Serena Foglia
"Please keep an eye on your children, especially when it comes to dogs (not kept on a leash) & traffic (the speed limit is 35mph on the main road & 25mph is neighborhoods, but some residents go much faster)!!"
    • Beverly Aumavae
"Everyone looks out for each other, and they have a community park on road eight that has community gatherings on how to better the association"
    • Skip Bethea
      "Live music…Kava Bar… Country Store… Farmers Market… Tail Gating… Food Trucks… Fishing Tournaments… Surfing Contests‼️"
    • Vtbbypnvvh
"I live close to my aging parents. Most people are friendly and considerate. Great neighbors as well. "
    • Dianna Kahler
"My neighborhood has terrible commute traffic to town. The highway is only 2 lanes & there is only one way in & out. Needless to say traffic during regular commute hours for school & work can get gnarly. "
    • Harmani L.
"Great neighborhood to walk your dog and get daily exercise, on the other hand of course there will be other dogs barking and so on."
    • Brian F.
"To the town of Pahoa it’s only about nine minutes. For a commute to Hilo it’s closer to 35. Most of the things that we need are within a 10 minute drive. But this allows for quiet neighborhoods and fairly dark skies at night for stargazing. Traffic is usually light except when there is construction. Even when is there is it’s usually only a momentary delay. "
    • Brian F.
"The neighborhood in general is very excepting of dogs and most people have them. Most people observe leash laws and keep their dogs in check. Dog’s seem to represent a measure of security for the house owner. There are no dog parks per se in this area but plenty of quiet streets to walk your dog on. "
    • Brian F.
"Mostly quiet and friendly. Close to the Ocean. Rains daily and everything is green. Great for a garden. Community pool is nice. Quick access to town. "
    • Laurie W.
"con: chance your dog could run into a wild pig and they're mean. loose dogs running around and thick forest that a pet could easily get lost in."
    • Laurie W.
"quiet dead end street with vacant lots so doesn't feel crowded. been quarantined for most of the time here so not much chance to know neighbors. "
    • Gnakapaahukahunanui
"Watch your children’s and get security systems. Not everything is scary but to be on the safe side of things home security is always good also considering the wild animals."
    • Kimberly B.
"Dog should be leashed or fenced at all time. Most dogs are good tempered, certain breads do scares people and there children . Most home owners want a guard dog. "
    • Shaunabiptc
"Quiet most times with the occasional argument and police presence. Lock your doors and beware of randomly nice people that come visiting you just to say hello. This is not that kind of neighborhood. "
    • Srgililland
"Neighborhood Watch Program. Community solar heated pool. Well water no catchment and mail delivery."
    • Lei_nihoa

Where I live theres no pave rd. it's just a gravel rock dirt rd. & there is a leash law on this island, island wide."
    • Srgililland

    • A T. T. E.
"The title says it all; when you are in Hawaii, life is just better! The area is beautiful, the people are friendly, and the weather is to die for, if you are lucky enough to visit then you are lucky enough! With an area of 4,028 square miles, the Hawaii Island is not just big; it is still growing; because Kilauea is the world's most active and prolific volcano. Hawaiian Beaches located just 3 short miles from Pahoa Town, and 20 miles south of Hilo Town (Hilo International Airport). Pahoa is one of the sunniest spots on the east side of the Big Island. The beautiful Ahalanui Hot Ponds are approximately 20 minutes away, and Volcanoes National Park is approximately 60 minutes away. "
