4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf you have the opportunity to send your child here, I strongly encourage you to reconsider. This has been one of the most disappointing school experiences for our family. The principal (V.A.) has shown very little support for students and families. During her time at San Juan High School around 2017, concerns were also raised, and unfortunately, similar patterns seem to continue here.My child attended this school and experienced ongoing bullying from 6th through 7th grade. While his teachers were supportive and advocated for him, the administration failed to take meaningful action. Instead, he was blamed for being quiet and not standing up for himself. He is a well-behaved student who rarely has issues, yet the situation remained unresolved. After multiple attempts to contact the school with no response, I had to escalate the matter to the district. Only then did communication occur with the school administration. No family should have to go through that level of frustration to ensure their child’s safety and well-being.Additionally, teacher turnover has been high, and since this principal’s arrival, several excellent teachers have left. Another major concern is the lack of language support for families who speak Spanish, Russian, or other languages. Despite a diverse school community, meaningful multilingual support is limited, and underpaid staff often step in informally to help families navigate communication barriers.Overall, this school has lacked administrative responsiveness, adequate support systems, and inclusive family communication. I hope sharing this experience helps other families make informed decisions.Parent Review2mo ago4 Reviews - San Juan High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIn 1980, the San Juan Alumni Association was formed to support San Juan High School. The alumni and faculty of San Juan High pay annual dues and make donations to help support San Juan High. Since 1980, over $300,000 has been awarded in Scholarship to the students of San Juan High. No other public high school in the Sacramento has this type of support system. The SJAA puts on All-Class Picnic every two years. We have some very successful alumni from San Juan High, and we mentor the students that they can be successful in any field they choose with a little hard work. Our alumni, volunteer on campus, make personal donations to the various needs at San Juan High, and attend and support many on campus events. We believe in San Juan High, its faculty, its students, and support it in any way we can. "Decent neighborhood. Some suspicious activity in surrounding neighborhoods as seen on the ring app. But pretty good overall. Lots of schools nearby so there’s usually kids out and playing. Friendly neighbors for the most part and a couple of shopping centers within 10 minutes. Can’t complain :) "

"There aren’t any community events that make it special here. I don’t like living here and if I could afford to live somewhere else, I would. I don’t recommend living here."

"In the area which I live, Hillsdale near I-80, which technically borders on North Highlands the streets are busy, dirty, littered with trash etc. There is only one major park in the area (Robert Frost Park) and I’ve nears many people let their dogs run off-lease here. I personally never walk my dog in this neighborhood, which is sad. Fortunately; he’s little and old and has a good sized yard to run around in so he gets enough exercise. But I’d like to feel like walking him in my neighborhood would be safe and pleasant, but honestly I don’t."

"just add 30 or more to your destination time and hope there's no accidents on the way to where you're going. Hit and runs are mentioned alot, I have experienced two in front off my house. Speed pumps everywhere and driver don't slow down for them neither. "

"My family own our home since 1952 it use to be veteran neighbourhood but now there is nothing but crack heads and trailer trash. The neighborhood changed a lot. now we hope there is more proud homeowners and no more renters. People who rent here devalue the homes. But maybe the Bay area people start to come and change this place for the better."

"I’ve lived in this neighborhood off and on for five years. It’s gotten much much better however I like closer to Antelope. I love on a busy street but two blocks back it’s very quiet. There is a sense of community and people want to improve our neighborhood and make it safer. "
