You may be good at sports, but if a family member or friend doesn't like you, these teachers won't give you a chance and will likely compare your child's physical appearance to other students. Most teachers don't love their profession. Students exhibit unsavory behavior. My son was bullied; he was hit, his backpack was stolen, and a student hit him with a hot ruler. They never knew how to notify me, but they called me when my son stood up for something that happened, all because he was related to a teacher. There was no formal graduation at the end of eighth grade like some other schools did. There were many principal changes, and only one police officer for the entire school. They need to improve in many areas.

Awful school. The principal and APs are rude, incompetent, and judgmental. I wouldn't entrust them with my children. If you can I would stay away and request a transfer.

We transferred out. THANKFULLY. The school burned my kids out. I homeschooled, in their first year at Hickey- outstanding grades and above average testing scores. Both gradually went down the longer they were there. Both my children were bullied by a student who threatened to kill them and their families because "he watched where they got off on the bus." That child made numerous threats to my kids, including bringing a gun to school, killing them, killing their family. Saying he kept knives and guns in his backpack to my kids. Reported it but nothing, literally nothing, ever happened. Worst school year ever. My son was stolen from that year, bullied, but nothing came of any of it. My daughter (1st grade) had a classmate expose himself to her at the bathroom & pressure her- she reported to her teacher. I had no clue until my daughter came and let me know. School never acknowledged it. So glad we're out of there.
