6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has served our son very well. He was very nervous to begin middle school and Mr. Harrington and Mr. Perkins have gone out of their way to shepherd the new kids into middle school. He is enjoying the extra stimulation and is excited about all things science and math. Robotics has been a wonderful part of his after-school extra curricular activities. We could not be more happy that our son attends here. We could not have asked for a better middle school environment for our son to learn in. Kudos to the teachers, coaches, counselors and leadership for this amazing school.Parent Review8y ago3 Reviews - Anacortes High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFidalgo has a private school feel in a public school setting. We moved to Anacortes intentionally for the school system (among other great things) and knew that we wanted Fidalgo out of the gate. Every teacher is dedicated to the kids, the underserved and disadvantaged programs are robust, and gifted children are quietly but firmly moved into advanced studies- all within the boundaries of the school itself. It is commonplace to find no room in the visitor parking lot because there are so many volunteers assisting in the classrooms. Tara Dowd runs a tight ship and fearlessly searches for ways to innovate within the boundaries of state requirements. I've never seen so many students so eagerly participating at any school, anywhere else. All the elementary schools in ASD 103 are great, but there's something about Fidalgo, year after year, that makes it so sought after. Just ask any Fidalgo grad.Parent Review9y ago4 Reviews - Island View Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI don’t know how this school could be rated its current ratings on great schools. It is unsafely understaffed, the kindergarten classes do mostly worksheets- inappropriate for that age group. The principal is unprofessional and concerned with climbing the ladder. Special Ed is run terribly- they will refuse any service your child needs and you will have to fight like hell. If they don’t have the therapy staff to provide your child the therapy they require they conveniently don’t tell you unless you ask- no integrity. Would never send a special ed kid here. Most families I know have pulled their kids from Island View/ ASD. Lastly, a tactic they like to use is suggesting your special ed child do half day, this way they don’t have to hire more staffing, but they’ll spin it like it’s to benefit your child.Parent Review2y ago5 Reviews - Mount Erie Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe transferred to Mt. Erie from Island View so my son could participate in the special program they offered. He LOVES it! I wish we would have transferred him sooner. He has grown and matured much and his math and reading has improved by leaps and bounds! Thank you Mt. Erie Elementary School!!Other Review9y ago5 Reviews - Check out schools near Glasgow Way.

"We have beautiful water views, but notoriously bad cell service. Neighbors out walking dogs or kids. People care about their homes and yards. "

"Schools are great for typical children but not for children with adhd or anxiety. They let those kids struggle and slip through the cracks. If your kids have learning disabilities don’t count on this school system "

"there id only one main road to bigger cities. the road is usually flowing smoothly, but when there's an accident, and traffic has stopped, there's no choice but to wait it out. "

"Anacortes is a charming coastal town, that is actually on Fidalgo Island, In the Puget Sound Archipelago. Beautiful public parks and trails, community access to the Puget Sound, is a Ferry Port, has good restaurants, pubs and many art, music events."

"Though shopping in town is limited if you want more than groceries and tourist items, it is readily available within 20 miles. You can't beat the scenery, recreational opportunities, and just sheer beauty of the place. Wish I had never moved away!"

"Anacortes, WA is a great place to raise a city with good schools, plenty of parks, lots of restaurants, a movie theatre 1 block away and the ocean is only 3 blocks away!!!"

"Anacortes has more protected community forestland as a percentage of the town than any other town in America, with lots of hiking trails, lakes, ponds, wildlife, and some old-growth stands. Fidalgo Island is a drive-on island with the beauty of a ferry-only island. We are in the Olympic Peninsula rain shadow so have less rainfall than much of Puget Sound."

"My family and I love the local community. Anacortes is quaint tourist town full of history and activities. The public school system is wonderful and the "mom and pop" stores downtown give the feeling that you are in your own private resort town hidden away in the Pacific Northwest!"
