5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMany of the reviews for this school are outdated, so I wanted to share my own experience. This school had its good and bad sides. There were mild bug infestations, and many of the classrooms were old and unclean. The students often misbehaved, and the overall environment felt chaotic. As a member of the Class of 2024, I was deeply disappointed, especially with the outdated technology, which fell far behind that of other schools. Teachers seemed indifferent, often sitting back while students acted out. It was common for students to vape in the bathrooms and smear wet paper on mirrors and floors. The cafeteria started off decent but became dirty and poorly maintained. I also noticed instances of favoritism, particularly towards female students, which felt unfair to the boys. There were no extracurricular activities or programs offered during school, which made it feel lacking in opportunities. Despite these issues, I give the school three stars solely because of one outstanding teacher I had in both 7th and 8th grade, whose name I won’t mention.Other Review1y ago7 Reviews - Ps 277 Gerritsen Beach

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDr. Vlantis does not effectively deal with bullying in the school. OORS reports are not generated as they are supposed to be. When I insisted on one for an issue, the "investigation" was conducted with "witnesses" in the same room as the bully as they were writing statements. Any person with common sense can tell you that that is the most ineffective way to conduct an investigation. But, it served the school because then on paper, there was no bullying. No justice at all for the student who is bullied. Students who complain are made to feel like they are lying and over exaggerating.Other Review5y ago7 Reviews - Check out schools near Flatbush Ave.

"My neighbor’s commute does not seem suitable due to several practical concerns. The route appears unsafe at times, with limited lighting and inconsistent pedestrian or traffic protections. It is also quite slow, often affected by congestion and delays that make travel inefficient and stressful. Additionally, the conditions can be uncomfortable, especially during bad weather, which further complicates the journey. While everyone has different circumstances, this particular commute seems to present ongoing challenges that could impact reliability and overall well-being. Exploring alternative routes or transportation options might provide a safer, more efficient, and more comfortable daily travel experience."

"Manhattan just hit different — the energy never stops, you’ve got world-class food from every culture within a 10-minute walk, and there’s something magical about how a quiet tree-lined block in the West Village can be two subway stops from Times Square. Neighbors actually say hi at the bodega, and you meet artists, finance folks, and immigrants all in the same coffee line. It’s chaotic, alive, and feels like home."

"A lot of traffic , dirty , a lot of crazy people on Brighton beach, the metro is dirty and unsafe. We tried riding a scooter and a bike on the boardwalk - old boards that are not secured and holes can cause serious injury."
