My son suffers from Autism, ADHD and Anxiety. This school has disappointed me greatly and for many reasons. I’ve taken the time to write this review because I feel it is important that people know how this school functions or lack there of. On one particular day my son had a melt down because he was unable to complete one of his projects on time in the classroom. He had been working very hard and was proud of his work, only to be told he couldn’t complete it because he wasn’t listening. His teacher tried to put all the blame on my son, leaving out the fact that my son had on headsets intentionally to block out sound from distraction so he could focus, that which they were completely aware of. He literally could not hear their directions and they blamed him, leading to his upset. The teacher was wrong but didn’t admit that was the main cause of his upset. I know my son and the story the teacher gave me didn’t make sense, so I got to the bottom of it. The teacher admitted that he did in fact have headsets on. There was another incident when I accidentally dropped my son off too early at the school, thinking it was an hour later than what it really was. I saw a teacher standing in the open doorway. Thinking nothing of it, I drove off when I saw him approach the open school door with teacher present. Later when my son came home from school, he told me they made him stand outside alone, in the cold rain, until the school officially opened. That teacher turned my son away and left him in outside! What kind of morals do the workers of this school have? They are very lucky nothing bad happened to him. The awful principle tried to tell me the teacher did nothing wrong and it was their “policy”. Simply Shameful. Most recently, my son made me aware that one of the teachers actually said they don’t care about his illnesses. It hurt him and that hurts me. This school is lacking on many levels. My son fared much better with Pemberton teachers. I am beyond disappointed and disgusted with this school. Sincerely, a loving mother.

We had just moved to the district and a month in, my daughter suddenly began to suffer unexplained physical neurological issues. She was presenting with loud vocal and motor tics that would have been a distraction to the class and embarrassment to her. While trying to figure out what was going on with doctor appointments and such, my daughter missed a lot of school. I was in constant contact with her teachers, administration and counselor. Keeping them updated multiple times a week. I was trying to get her help to continue school at home while we were in the process of getting her medical care. Nobody at the school responded to my requests for help. Only one teacher contacted me to express concern for what my child was experiencing. Finally, the AVP and school board sends me a canned email about my daughter missing too much school. DUHH!! I was furious. Not one helpful person in the district. Not one. Fed up, I just unenrolled her from the school altogether. We eventually settled in a private school where the faculty actually cared and helped get my daughter back on track. She graduated this year. NHS student and secretary of the student council. Amazing how kids can recover when they have the support they need.
