7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a parent of a fourth grader. My child has been studying in this school for five years. Every teacher is very friendly and patient with the students. The principal of their school is bilingual. In addition to English, she also speaks Chinese. She speaks Chinese very well. In addition to the principal, the school also has many Chinese-speaking teachers. In terms of communication, the school has Chinese-speaking teachers and Spanish-speaking teachers. The school’s learning environment is very active. In addition to the classroom, there are also after-school cram schools. My children like this school very much, and I am the same. ! !Parent Review2y ago3 Reviews - Oakland High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageRoosevelt middle school where shall I start. I actually went to this school. I'm 32 now. And my seven siblings also went here. Now it's my daughter's first year. It's a big difference from when I went. And especially these 10 yrs approx that mr. Principal Hong has been there. Has been positive energy. And he's always available to hear us parents out. He also has such a great staff behind him. Whom truly care for Roosevelt. Don't let the bad rep fool you. And don't listen to what everyone says. See for your self. Roosevelt is thriving and trying to just go up and up. As long as parents stay vocal as well. And try to be positive and give your feedback because they want to know. Also the teachers so far that I've dealt with for my daughter. There just the best. Shout out to Ms. Toumi, Brooks, Allison, samana, bell, I love them all. They are all dedicated teachers. And I'm glad my daughter has such great support from. Her teachers. I can't wait to see more positive from Roosevelt. Every school h as s good and bads but I feel the good out weighs the bad for sure. Thanks Roosevelt for the great year start off so far.Parent Review6y ago7 Reviews - Home And Hospital Program

"There is a coffee shop, Thai restaurant and convenient store close to each other. This is a really residential neighborhood, so having these things in walking distance is pretty nice."

"It is a good neighborhood better than deep east Oakland very quiet most of the time. Thank you for the information it’s been provided. The bus lines are also well and the neighborhood is just good wish the rent was a bit lower but it’s ok right now. "

"I've lived in the neighborhood for 2 years and absolutely love it. It's in a fantastic location that is walking distance to Lake Merritt and a short bike ride to downtown. Philomena, Xochi the Dog Cafe, Portal, and Lucky's are all right here. The neighborhood has beautiful old homes and is in an obvious transition phase. Tons of houses are getting updated and a real community pride is blossoming."

"It’s dangerous. Loud cars. Alarms. Trash on the streets. Homeless people. Cars get broken into a lot. "

"There is very limited parking, especially on street sweeping days. Many cars speed down this street and have music loud enough to shake the walls. Would not reccomend this area. "

"There is bart station about a 20 minute walk from where I am and there a plenty of bus stops. I can't speak for traffic because I don't drive to work."

"It's a fine place for dogs, not really any better or worse than most other places. My only concern would be that the neighborhood is not always safe, especially in the evenings. During the day you don't really need to worry, but it's not unusual to hear gunshots late at night. So take your dog out in the day, avoid late night walks."

"I’ve only lived here for a year. Neighbor can be a bit loud as houses are close together. People do donuts in the middle of the street. Don’t park on corners."

"Diversity and culture. It’s a fairly age area with access to public transportation. There are children in the area who enjoy playing with each other."
