Lingle has a lot of work to do with building a social/emotional learning environment that supports all students in a way that helps achieve.

Probably one of the worst schools I’ve ever had the displeasure of attending. This school is the reason why I have multiple mental health issues into adulthood. If you love your ur child do NOT let them attend this school. The teachers are vile and will never listen to you if you have an issue. The principal when I went there was absolutely evil in every way and constantly gave me unnecessary ISS all the time and most of it was because I was going through a very horrible and traumatizing point in my life at home and they never bothered asking me if I was okay or if my home life was okay. I really do hope that this school gets ripped out of the ground and never talked about ever again. It makes me sick every time I drive past that school.

My little brother has attended Grace Hill Elementary for all of his academic career. He’s had great teachers, such as Ms. Lopez, who created a safe and happy environment for kids to learn and be prepared for the rest of their academic career. Now as a 5th grader, my brother has continuously had his spirit crushed by the staff and his 5th grade teacher. From being told his future will be at “Crossroads” (Learning Center for Troubled Youth) just because he went to the classroom to change into his outside shoes, to only being provided a hot dog bun for lunch because he was in the office all day for throwing a beach ball. For purposefully keeping his baby pictures out of the graduation assembly and claiming they were “lost” (when they clearly weren’t), to sending him to the office all day for things that multiple kids were doing and only reprimanding my brother. I understand that being a teacher is a hard job, but considering a tragedy concerning the wellbeing of a young girl in this school just took place, shouldn’t teachers show the greatest empathy to their students and try to understand them, instead of putting them in a box? Isn’t their goal to create a safe, encouraging, and respectful environment for their students? Build them up?

This school is the reason why I got my GED early, about 3 years ago now. The reason? The principal thought it necessary to give me a month long ISS for possibly the dumbest reason known to man. I didn’t attend my “Eagle periods” because I thought it very unnecessary and a waste of my time. They didn’t allow us to finish work from other classes, and also forbade doing any homework. The whole point was to just listen to your teachers lecture you about quite literally nothing. I had skipped Eagle period about 5 times and by the way this wasn’t even a main course class, therefore attendance shouldn’t have been required. But anyways the principal thought it was very serious and punished me harshly for it. As soon as I got ISS however, I walked out the school door and never came back and got my GED that following week and ever since then my life had gotten so much better. I’m now a business owner for a theater and I’m making way more than the principal is now. So thank you for teaching me how to be resourceful and make my life more successful than yours! I forgot his name and I don’t think that principal works there anymore but honestly good riddance.
