3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children have done well at Tompkins. We have had some incredible teachers, specifically Mrs. Carrasco, Mrs. Li, Mrs. Akins, Mrs. Butler, and Mrs. De Iulio. All of these have gone above and beyond to provide an engaging and rewarding school experience for my kids. There are also plenty of fun events that get my kids excited (rallies, talent show, class play, color run, battle of books, field trips, Easter egg hunt, carnival-like events throughout the year) a lot of school pride, and a wonderful librarian. My only complaints are that the yard duties are overzealous and the parking situation at pickup is chaotic. There are clear places to park and a drive-through area, but it isn’t well-enforced; people park in fire lanes, block traffic, jaywalk, etc. Overall, we have really loved Tompkins and the pride that the teachers and staff have in their school shows.Parent Review2y ago6 Reviews - Check out schools near Common area.

"I see plenty of dog people around. There is also a dog rescue ranch called Marley’s Mutts. You can volunteer or foster for. There isn’t an obvious dog park though. Just parks people take their dogs to."

"Bear Valley springs is the coolest place to reside, ever. People are terrific, wildlife run free and are respected, the mountain views leave me speechless, prices for Realestate are reasonable, Tehachapi is handy and provides access to extras, although with the amenities in BVS (other than to go to work) one never has to leave for recreation or necessities. We have the Country Market, Saloon, Country club dining, and Mulligan Room!"

"Being so close to nature. Elk, deer, quail, bobcat, coyote, and fox regularly travel thru my land, all while th majestic hawk circles overhead. Four true seasons, mild in the valley, but heavy at the ridge, you can experience nature at any level you choose. "

"Schools are not friendly to outed groups. They have a stone wall when asking for special services and the history is of a school way out of actual compliance with state mandated individual planning."

"Certain neighborhood dogs will get excited and bark a lot. But for the most part, everyone & their dogs are cool. Everyone’s also pretty good about keeping their dogs on leashes and cleaning up after their pooches. I can’t really think of much on the flip side. "

"It's a great place to live and raise a family but there isn't much for teenagers outside of extracurricular activities and legal OHV recreational activities. Weekend parties were commonplace when I was a teen up here."

"Tehachapi the town itself is amazing, very beautiful here and not so crazy either. We finally have a Walmart here and it’s slowly getting bigger, but it’s still a small town for now. Hopefully it stays this way :)"
