3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy experience at this school so far as a 7th grader going into 8th is decent. Fighting doesn't occur often like it used to in 6th. 3/4 of my teachers are decent in their jobs meaning they are able to make it fun compared to the 2/2 for 6th. Swearing is common in this school. I hear it everyday, but you know, we are 12-14, we are always immature. In all schools there's bad kids and good ones this ones one of them. So far, this school is not half bad. Nice unified-art programs and good teachers. Plus there's some nice students who are wonderful people. That was my honest opinion of this school.Student Review8y ago2 Reviews - New Bedford High School

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNew Bedford High is the school you go to when you can't get into anything else. If you had money, you would go to Bishop Stang. If you had good grades and conduct, you go to New Bedford Voc-Tech. I went to NBHS for my first year and it was terrible. I saw drug deals during school hours, students carrying weapons on their persons, and fights were a common occurrence. I don't know how you would fix it. The students don't care. The parents of the students don't care. The teachers and staff don't care. The school needs more police presence inside and around the school. Years later, I can drive by that school when the school day ends and it looks like it has only gotten worse. On the southeast end of the school property where the trees are, I've seen kids yelling profanity at cars passing by. Immediately north of the school on the same block, there is a wooded area; I've seen kids throwing rocks and glass bottles at people and cars passing by. I've seen kids on bikes ride in the middle of the street near the school to block traffic, only to start fights with the driver. I've also seen kids trying to break into parked cars when they leave the school property. If you had a choice, send your kids to anywhere else but New Bedford High School.Other Review3y ago1 Reviews - Sgt Wm H Carney Academy

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFor students, the school contributes what they can to teaching and supporting children with the resources they are given. And this is a positive thing. However, in my visits with the school, I have experienced an incredible display of very derogatory, condescending, aggressive and incredibly unprofessional behavior by faculty members towards faculty members and adults. Enough to feel uncomfortable enough about it to write a review. I, personally, would feel uncomfortable sending my children to a school where common decencies and professionalism falter in some of the staff members that are supposed to be shaping young minds and promoting an atmosphere of equality and kindness.Other Review5mo ago8 Reviews - Check out schools near Clinton St.

"There is always something in the way and busted up cars. Plan ahead and you’ll be ok and prefer a driveway if you plan to live here. otherwise make sure you’re parked close to sidewalk on busy streets with mirrors closed in. "

"This neighborhood offers a blend of historical charm and coastal living. The stunning historical homes, coupled with the soft ocean breeze carrying the scent of the sea, create a tranquil atmosphere. However, the nearby intersection, located on a blind curve without a 4-way stop, has experienced several accidents. Additionally, a German Shepherd frequently barks for hours, which could be a concern for those sensitive to noise."

"I was visiting with my mother to view a rental and got out of my car to take photos. When we got back in our car, we first saw an argument between a man and a woman who was irate in front of us, then the man approached our car to ask if we had been filming her. This is not a safe area and I would not live here. "

"I think people would have respect seeing any Person walking their dog but some people don’t like when owners don’t clean up after their pets. And there’s a lot of people who are really nosy and sometimes it can be really disturbing and the fact that you can’t even trust the neighborhood, like letting your kids play outside it’s not how it used to be !"

"Every place has good and bad areas, New Bedford has many historical places to visit as a family, and many parks and playgrounds for kids as well as for schooling. I believe you just have to be in a better part of the neighborhood. There’s only a few areas that aren’t the greatest."

"In order to walk safely in this area since there are no sidewalks you’ll need to walk along the front of your neighbors yards. They would rather you walk in the street and risk getting killed unless of course you’re a member of their family. Other then that you can trespass on many of the open lots that are filled with ticks. I found five in three weeks on my dog from just one visit to one of these empty lots"
