  • Sewansews
"We just moved here and love the proximity to shops and down town Port Jefferson. Our neighbors are very friendly. We also enjoy the local restaurants. we cut our commute to work, in half. This town definitely has the best of everything!"
  • Geralyn R.
"I am in a single woman’s shelter and really don’t know much about the area. I do not have young children. I believe it is a good, safe area from what I’ve been told. and what I have seen the short time I’ve been here."
  • Julian E.
"it's a good area, near the LIRR, and a straight shot to the LIRR/496, and the NSP. one thing of note the area by the train station and bowling alley attracts the homeless especially at night. Have had in the past packages stolen as well as a motorcycle (2016).. however nothing recently "
  • Gogogreen.lawncare
"local traffic is never a problem. busy morning traffic outside of this area most of the time flows .Evening traffic can sometimes be a challenge. expect an additional 15 to 20 on the ride home. This community has alot to offer . Good location family oriented diverse .on a scale of 1 thru 10 .I'll rate it an 11 .Fortunate to live here as a renter. "
  • Charisa
"Quiet, wide streets, neighborly, lots of trees, close to main highway, great restaurants and the village of Port Jefferson but far enough away for peace and quiet."
  • Justina R.
"I am pretty central and have everything I need close by. Clothing stores, supermarkets , restaurants, movies and much more."
  • Unspecified
"Awesome area to live in, just wish some neighbors focus on little more clean house fronts. Need to improve school ratings. Let’s focus on our next generation. "
  • Unspecified
"Awesome area to live, awesome school and great to raise a family. Worst weekend drivers, need to be little safe with drivers."
  • Dudsfish
"Great neighborhood with sidewalks and lighting, friendly neighbors lots of young families. close to everything transit, restaurants, shopping. "
  • Joshua P.
"it was a nice area to grow up in, plenty of parks and well maintained areas. school district is decent"
  • Julian E.
"high crime and poverty rate. a lot of homeless people, and a homeless shelter right by the train station does not help the situation, couple that with the fact that the running train is used by drug addicts at night. this is not an area I recommend, unless you have good hone security, I even had a motorcycle stolen from he here."
  • Sabrina8281
"It’s an OK middle-class neighborhood. The schools could be better, but I’m nice place for kids to grow up."
  • Donlrose
"Lots of people walking dogs. Lots of squirrels, rabbits, etc. cons - seems like lots of fireworks on weekends which dogs dislike"
  • Beth14c
"down port is amazing ... try prohibition kitchen great food great schools . beaches close ....live here 20 years no issues .... kids grew up here ..... terryville carnival is always a treat for the kids .... the dickens festival is another good one ....great restaurants all close by....cafe amici in selden is the best around. "
  • Donlrose
"Woods around to walk in and numerous dogs. Some good dog parks. Port Jeff has beach where u can walk dog."
  • Jennifer B.
"Dickens festival and the port are unique yet we are very close knit. It’s the perfect mix of old and new. "
  • Kathleen G.
"Other than driving down port the traffic around here is ok. By the train tracks it gets congested and it’s run down with a lot of homeless people "
  • Sirous
"Public bus available in 5 minutes walk from my home. Train station is available in 10 minutes from my house ."
  • Theresa
"I have 3 dogs and I don’t socialize them because we almost were attacked by a loose Rottweiler while owner was in the garage. Luckily people saw the dog charging at my dog as I swung him away from harm (he was a puppy then) Actually got in to it with my neighbor as if it was my fault. Minding my own business in front of my own home. He did later apologize. Since then, it all about the back yard."
  • Theresa G.
"Dogs are always welcomed on a leash, however, it would be nice if people would stay on their own block. I have dogs and they bark like crazy because everyone comes down here, and because it’s quiet and pretty. That’s why they have dog parks!"
  • Kim
"Likes: Side walks, street lights, friendly neighbors, decent size backyards, fenced in yards, close to dog park "
  • Lia M. D.
"i work 3 towns away. hubby commutes because the jobs do not pay well out here unless you are a doctor or own a business."
