My wife and I are both graduates from this school. To now see our daughter go here brings us great joy. To see some of our old teachers still there feels somewhat surreal. The best part is not just seeing our daughter compete in sports, but also to see have opportunities that we never had while attending there. Like, the CTE program that she is in for Pathway to Engineering that she was accepted in after not being selected for North Point, the extended day courses, and dual college enrollment to name a few. As a former Charles County school employee, I would definitely recommend McDonough as a school to go to.

Piccowaxen was a great school for me. Bullying wasn't a problem in my later years here. I talked to the students in 6th grade regularly to hopefully make them feel comfortable. However the the school has its flaws. The staff are not the best, especially the vice principle. (I don't know about the new principle since I left before the new one came) If your just starting school and in 6th grade, theres nothing to worry about unless your asking for it. Most of the 7th/8th graders are nice though. The test scores are very high. The school is also small, yet it isn't overcrowded. Only 400~ students. The classes are not divided by concrete walls though, so you will hear other teachers talking. The technology is dated. Still has Windows XP and a terrible networks. Thats more of the entire school system though. The teachers are friendly. No problems with any of my teachers. And lastly the school enforces rules a bit too heavily. You get in serious trouble for the littlest of things. Piccowaxen is one of the best middle schools in the county.

We are so happy with this school. Teachers and staff are very responsive, they have a great music program, lots of clubs, and my kids are happy. It's a big school, but somehow the staff knows everyone's name.
