"I've lived here my entire life. I've watched the town grow as vacation folks became retired and bought homes and land here. There is little crime and a small town atmosphere. "
  • Paige M.
"It's a pretty long commute to most professional buildings. I'd work 30 to 45 minutes away. We usually retire here. "
  • Anita L. W. .
"Got to have a car not a good place to commute from gotta cross a mountain so that can be a pain day after day there are not many places to work up here but it’s a awesome place to retire to. The largest city is about an hour away. I love living here I don’t mind the mountain drive up & down it’s always beautiful here how the lake meets the mountains "

"We looked for several years for a second home. Settled on Hiawassee, GA. Quiet, clean, beautiful area. Not a lot of traffic; more in the summer because of Lake Chatuge and Hiawassee River. A great get away from hectic city life. About 3.5hrs from Atlanta Airport, 2.5hrs from Charlotte, NC, 3.5hrs from Nashville, TN, and 2.5 Asheville, NC. Fishing in area is great. Lake Chatuge is spectacular. Dining in local area is very good. But, this is a place mostly for building your own cabin, get-away place and relaxing with family. Shopping is more oriented on small local stores, antiques, and home goods."

"Have lived here for a year. Area is quiet, little traffic, close to town for shopping. As the area is on the West end of Hiawasse, it is also closer to Young Harris, Blairsville (HD and Walmart) as well as the fine restaurants . Golf is close at Brasstown and Chatuge Shores. Usually get snowfall at our altitude 2500 FT sometime during the winter but the roads are normally plowed by lunchtime. The views of the NC side of Lake Chatuge and NC Mountains is magnificent ."
  • Capicapi12
"Beautiful wooded serene area with a very quite town 4.5 miles away to shopping, school is less than 4 miles away"
  • Maryetodd
"I spend a lot of time here, it is a beautiful small town with a lake and a river. The Music Hall has a lot of good country music and a summer fair and a fall Festival Good fun for the whole family. It is like going back in time. The crime rate is low."
