I have had four children attend Essex Elementary. It used to be a creative, well rounded school, but in the past couple of years under the most recent principal, it has become a cookie cutter, teaching to the test type school. Frankly, I am glad we are finished with Essex Elementary this year. The principal doesn't listen, is temperamental and needs anger management counseling. He really needs to leave so that the teachers can do their jobs the way they used to be able to do, when it was a high quality school. If I sound unhappy it's because I am. If we had another child, that child would go to a private school or we would move to another school district. Essex Elementary has become that bad under this principal. Nobody smiles there, not a great atmosphere for kids. All due to poor leadership.

"I especially love how we have our own farmers market and how the bus station is easily accessible for all ages for transportation. I have amazing friendly neighbors who come together but my one concern is the break ins we’ve had and the concern about loosing mail and packages. There has been minor damage done to my vehicles over the past 5 years but it would be nice not to worry! "

"Need to drive down route 15 most days to the circ, but there’s not normally too much traffic. About 15-20 mins to the Winooski on ramp for I-89."

"Dance party on Railroad St every year. State fair just down the road. Park is nearby with constant events. Then there’s a robust sports and rec organization that puts together a lot of activities and leagues. "
