We found a GORGEOUS home in this school district. The property taxes were nearly 8k annually, when a similar priced home in the next school district is only 3-4k… the SCHOOL taxes ALONE are literally over $5,000 a YEAR, that is mind boggling!!! I understand the need for funding, but 5k a year? $6-$700 a month just in property taxes, I’d sell my house too if I had to pay half of my mortgage in property/ SCHOOL taxes each month. We already lose 22% of our income paying taxes each year. This world is just insane now. I read a news article articulating the strategies used to raise these rates, and I hope that it is resolved soon and properly addressed. Our beautiful family is missing out on our dream home, all thanks to the wildly inappropriate school taxes.

This is my sons first year in the Elementary building and I'm far from impressed. This year he has come home upset numerous times that all he hears is yelling from the teachers, not at him, but at other students. I've heard teachers yelling from inside the building while I was on the other end of the parent pickup line. There needs to be some kind of separation with that because I've also spoke to other parents that also say the same. My son is in 3rd grade and recieved flash cards to practice for example 3+1, 2-0. To me that's absurd! This school is so far behind in the curriculum. My parents moved out here and when I started at Octorara I remember saying to myself how ridiculous, I've learned this 2 years ago!! My parents used to say they wouldn't send there dog to Octorara. I thought the PLC was great and as far as I was concerened the school had come a long way. Now I believe I was very wrong. Should have stayed in Downingtown, which is a wonderful school. I am considering private school at this point.

Terrible school terrible teachers even worst superintendent and principal. DONT PLACE YOUR KID IN THIS SCHOOL no black teacher at all this school lacks care and responsibility it’s a pay check for them the grading system is terrible the care factor is worst as a involved parent don’t put your kid in this school it will be a waste of there high school years. WARNING

I would recommend it to anyone. It has been a wonderful experience and I could not have picked a better place to raise our kids. Both will graduate above a 4.0 with good SAT scores. They love their community and school and are well rounded young adults. I couldn’t be more thankful.
