9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI’ve had kids at PUE from 2018 to the present, and wholeheartedly recommend it. The teachers really care about the students, and the students feel it – it’s not uncommon to see kids hugging teachers from prior years in the hallways. The teachers tend to stay for many, many years, which sends a message about this being a happy, supportive place to come to work. The principal (Mr. Tunstall) is a visionary and strong leader – since he arrived two years ago, I have seen changes in academics (more differentiated instruction in core subjects), facilities (updates and improvements), and an investment in staff professional development and morale (via conference attendance, teacher of the year recognition, and wellness & appreciation programs). He encourages his staff to participate in community building events like Spirit Nights and other PTA fundraisers, and he collaborates effectively with the PTA to ensure resources are wisely spent to maximize benefit at the school. And Mr. T even allowed himself to be dunked in green slime for the students’ enjoyment to close out the annual Fun Run!The parents are very supportive of the PTA, which is highly organized and draws on leaders’ specific expertise to make sure all students have a well-rounded experience and staff members feel appreciated. The PTA funds things for students like cultural arts programming, social-emotional resources and online subscriptions, field trip scholarships, and enrichment programs like Odyssey of the Mind, Scripps National Spelling Bee, Science Fair, First in Fitness, chorus, and safety patrol. In the past two years, the PTA has allocated $10,000 to revamp the library’s book collection, and bought water bottle refilling stations, and basketball hoops for the gym. The PTA supports teachers with annual classroom supply stipends, funds for professional development, and frequent appreciation events. The PTA also organizes annual programs like the Boosterthon Fun Run and the Scholastic Book Fair, and monthly spirit events. All around, this is a great community to be part of!Parent Review2y ago19 Reviews - Wakefield Middle

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is my son first year at Wakefield Middle School and he really enjoys the schools' atmosphere. The teachers are very supportive of his academic needs and are always pushing him to be his best. He especially loves his ELA teacher; he says his teachers are rigorous but at the same time loving/caring.Parent Review3y ago12 Reviews - Wakefield High

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have been at Wakefield High School for 3 years now with our oldest and are truly enjoying it! The Wakefield schools are located in the heart of a beautiful and supportive community in north Raleigh. There are numerous rigorous course offerings and more club offerings than you can count. They ranked in the top 4% in the state for student academic growth. The sports programs are solid and often times also top ranking at the district and state level. Overall, very happy with Wakefield High and look forward to the rest of our kids being Wolverines soon!Parent Review2y ago16 Reviews - Check out schools near Bruce Garner Rd.

"Everyone normally cleans after their pups and keeps them leashed. Neighborhood is normally clean and neighbors normally tend to their lawn."

"Really nice area for family and enjoyable living. Plenty of fun things to do. You will need transportation. Some residents like to complain because the sky is blue - but other than that, great place to live outside of Raleigh. "

"The commute to Morrisville and back is brutal. Lots of traffic on US 1 and 540. Accidents every day. People drive like maniacs weaving in and out of traffic. It is the only drawback to living here."

"People walk their dogs and for the most part, they’re responsible for the pet’s waste. Unfortunately, people are less tolerable of middle school age children and high schoolers simply being kids. "

"A real sense of community. We all look out for each other; never is it as obvious as when the last bad storm came through. Everyone was out the next morning helping to clean up tree limbs and leaves from the entire cut-de-sac, not just their own yard, sharing tools, equipment and man power. "

"A bit of traffic around 4:00 to 6:00pm. My neighborhood is gated and has a very nice, exclusive Country Club. My neighborhood has it’s very own private security service and they constantly patrol the neighborhood."

"There are quite a few dog owners in my neighborhood. Most are responsible owners, but there are those that walk their dogs at night and allow them to relieve themselves in their neighbors yards. This is the part I dislike. I sit on my porch at night and you wouldn’t believe the things I see dog owners allow their dogs to do."
