6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child is in the TK Spanish immersion. Before selecting this school, I did so much research and school visits to pick the best option. So far so good! First, the school administration has been very organized before and after the school year started with notifications, announcements, and daily operating procedures. I am observant, and even with construction happening, the staff works together to ensure safety and our student are at the highest priority. The communications come directly from the principal to parents on a regular basis. Mr. Tiger is so aproachable and kind. I see him with steady pace all over campus in the mornings outside helping where he can. He is very involved. There is a sense of community among families. The PTA group provide intentional updates and awareness topics to help support the kids and parents on social media. The vibe is very positive and I see many smiles from parents, staff, and kids. My child's teacher has been a joy. She is very kind and "over communicates" which I love. In the first week of school, my child walked to class on his own and he is enjoying it. I requested a parent/teacher meeting and even witg the busy schedule, she suggested a call. She is very approachable, listens, and supports. Its been a great experience. About playground area, I am hopeful there will be more shade added soon for the students. Thats probably one opportunity that stands out to me the most. Currently, the playgrounds are out in the open. There is a little shade for tables next to the TK/K playground, but i feel like it needs much more. Lakeside can get very hot depending on the weather. It would help so much to allow for more outdoor play and also keep our kids comfortable when it is sunny. TK and K students play together, so they get to make new friends outside of their class. About the Spanish immersion program, my child understands Spanish but doesn't speak it. The program for TK and K is 100% Spanish. So the teacher never speaks English. My child helps the teacher by translating to those who do not understand Spanish. Great way for my child to practice translation and continue learning. They teach social/enotional learning every day. The class size is about 24 students. However, I appreciate that it is the teacher and also a full time aid supporting the students. So far we've had a wonderful experience and so happy to be part of the Lakeview family.Parent Review1y ago22 Reviews - Tierra Del Sol Middle School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kid has an IEP, I would constantly have to advocate and remind teachers of my kids needs and accommodation. In the end the teachers were legally obligated to comply however kids with IEPs should not have to advocate so adamantly. The whole point of having an IEP to make things less difficult for those that have learning disabilities. When there is resistance to accommodations the learning environment feels hostile. For someone already struggling it makes the mountain feel even taller. Another issue was that my kids witnessed countless instances of racism, religious discrimination and homophobia. From constant use of derogatory terms in everyday language amongst classmates to groups of kids verbally and physical singling out and bully individuals. I am grateful we moved out of Lakeside and no longer have to endure. It felt like a continuous struggle. To elaborate on my grading - To Agree=5pts to Disagree=1pt, so total possible points is 30pointsLearning - I am sure it is very hard to get kids at the middle school age to be excited to do anything educational so I somewhat agree this school dose try to provide engaging educational material however lack of support makes it fall, so this was 3 pointsSpecial Education - All schools by law must comply with the disability requirements however teaches at TDS don't automatically accommodate they wait for you to advocate a& demand your rights so this was 1 pointTeaching - This was hard to grade because some teachers were great, some were okay and some were difficult. My kids each had 7 teachers and out of the 14+ I would say 2 were memorable to be great 8 were memorable to be difficult so that's 6 ok of 8 but then you have to factory the office workers and principal so I gave 2 pointsSafety - My kids did not feel safe and comfortable at all they had few friends who also felt the same so I gave 1 pointSocial-emotional support - when things were brought to attention of the teaches and staff they went through the motions to deal with it but issues would continue & at times escalate. My kids would tell me how teachers would complain about their work and describe their experience with other students its unprofessional so I gave 2ptFamily Engagement - Jupiter grades works however most of the time the grades were not updated until weeks later, this delay doesn't help the student juggle where their focus should be. This skill is necessary for High school. So I gave 2 ptsFinal Grade (D) 11/30pts 36%Parent Review4y ago7 Reviews - El Capitan High School

"Try not to live directly on any of the main roads. Such as Woodside, Wintergardens, and Mapleview because people drive way too fast and it is very loud."

"I was born and raised in Lakeside. I love this little town. I wish Lakeside could go back to the 1970s. The milk man would drop off the milk by the front door. The dairy was fun to go too."
