"people seem to have dogs here. Most landlords don’t allow renters to have dogs though so unless you’re planning on buying your house, it’s kinda tough to have a dog."

    • Justin D.
"I work in Redwood City, so the commute is very long. Some days it takes two and a half hours each way. Public transportation is not an option.................................................................................................................. ..."
    • Brian Y.
"Many playgrounds in the area! This would be a great place to raise kids. The sidewalks are well maintained too. "
    • Sharon F.

"Traffic can be an absolute nightmare especially during summer tourist season. The blessing is that everything is so super close 90% of my life is within 4 miles and half the time I’m looking at the Monterey Bay it’s all breathtakingly beautiful"
    • Thomas B.
"Great place. Nice folks. Costco nearby. A bit expensive. If you can afford it, a wonderful place to live. "
    • Cyn2007
"Cars sometimes drive to fast and miss stop signs. Always accompany your children, no place in America is totally safe, people who don’t live here can easily cruse the neighborhood and not be noticed. "
    • Mcurtinsax
"This is Old Town Monterey. Spaghetti Hill, settled by Italian fishermen whose founding families ply their trade to this day. The Defense Language Institute above. The small downtown below. The original capital of California. Lots of history and events. Big Sur,Pinnacles, etc. This is Steinbeck country. If you can afford it, it’s great."
    • Mcurtinsax
"My daughter lives with her husband and my ex-wife lives in Sonoma near Morton’s pool. I live in Monterey which is a beautiful area but gets crowded all summer (and much of the rest of the year) with tourists for the many events they offer. When I came out to visit, the older houses and natural areas made me decide to commit to moving out here."
    • Monica
"What is not to love? Friendly neighbors, windy streets excellent for walking, quiet area with little car traffic, forest and bay views and great weather. We love it when a herd of deer amble through our backyard and when the squid fishermen light up the bay at night making a spectacular fluorescent view from the house. Only in Monterey!"
    • Judy C.
"There are very few sidewalks. Watch for cars when you are walking (and many walk dogs and children on this neighborhood) some drive too fast. "
    • Trulia User
" Friendly neighbors who take care of their property and offer help to you. Very dog friendly with great walking trails"
    • Pegasuslady4
"I really like New Monterey, there is plenty to do,the walking p ath provides opportunities for ample exercise. Cars fly down the wider streets especially if there are fewer stop signs "
    • Lauren P.
"There are no sidewalks for safe walking or riding bikes, dimly lit at night, but overall fantastic neighborhood"
    • Kirsten e
"I drive to Palo Alto 2x a week... it is a long drive................................ It is 3.5 hours round trip"
    • Theresa O.
"Close to the wharf and ocean and Monterey Bay Aquarium. Close to exceptional hike and bike trails. Multitude of cultural events —Arts."
