This school CURRENTLY has;>LACK OF DISCIPLINE >SELFISH STAFF and PARENTS>STAFF NOT LEADING BY EXAMPLE< >UNHELPFUL WHEN YOU NEED INFORMATION>MOST PARENTS ARE VERY HOSTILE AT SCHOOL GROUND AND DON'T FOLLOW SCHOOL RULES. >> kids with BAD BEHAVIOR doesn't have consequences when they do something, completely unsafe for responsible and respectful kids. MECKLENBURG COUNTY SCHOOL can do more about this specific school, but unfortunately THE STAFF, including teachers and most parents don't have the will to do what is right, not only for the school, for the entire community too. >>My kids came from a school 9/10, and the difference between the previous school and SOUTHWEST MIDDLE SCHOOL is ASTRONOMICAL and unfortunately this school is DOING very bad. 6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageRivergate is WONDERFUL. I love the diversity and how many kids are native Spanish speakers, my child has gotten such an amazing early education. I’m 100% sure that’s why their test scores are not through the roof because the teachers work so hard to meet every student where they need to be met. The principal Ms. Johns is SUCH a special kind of person. There are pretty shocking things that go on at this school that I have to hear about through my kid and their friends... including a scary incident that involved police. I heard from other parents as well that they dont like to notify families unless they are forced to. "The staff here go above and beyond to make this feel like home. Everyone is always so nice and friendly, my daughter and I love it here and wish we would of found this place sooner! There are a lot of events for residents as well as a lot of notice…where we use to live we found at day of hour or two before where as here you know so can definitely plan ahead which is awesome! "

"We are close to Winget Elementary school and Winget Park. The main access road to our neighborhood deadends into a school so we are a more secluded neighborhood. We canngood access to 485 and 77 and can be on the interstate in roughly 10 -15 mins. "

"I’ve lived here for close to two years and I find it to be safe, well kept, and convenient to everything. You can get to I85, 485 and 77 all within minutes. We are close to Lake Wylie if you like water and only 18 minutes from Uptown if you like a city vibe."
