Four large routes intersect in the city including the I-15 and I-40, and Highway 58. Old Route 66 also intersects with this historic city. Barstow is also home to Fort Irwin National Trailing Center and the Marine Logistics Base- Barstow. BNSF also has a large rail classification yard in the city. Most travelers know Barstow as exactly half way from Los Angeles on their way to Las Vegas. According to the 2018 Traffic Volumes, the Montara Rd/40 Freeway sees approximately 22,000 annual average daily drivers. Interstate 40 travels from Barstow, through Needles before crossing the Colorado River to Arizona and eventually ending in Wilmington, North Carolina. The City of Barstow has zoned this property as General Industrial. 'The Industrial district is intended for industrial oriented uses including but not limited to the manufacture and storage of products, assembly, dismantling and salvage, as well as operations that may be incompatible to more sensitive uses.
