    About this House

Smithfield Plantation – Prime Hunting Tract in Marion County, SC Welcome to Smithfield Plantation, a beautifully laid-out hunting property located less than 5 miles from downtown Marion. This tract sits just off the Hwy 501 Bypass, providing convenient paved access while delivering a true escape into productive wildlife habitat. The diverse landscape features an ideal mix of habitats that support abundant game. High-elevation former farmland transitions into mature pine stands, while hardwood sloughs and bottomland areas create natural travel corridors and bedding cover. Spring Branch forms the southern boundary, featuring an existing beaver pond that offers excellent duck hunting opportunities along with a reliable water source. Over 35 acres were historically in row crops (now in pines), offering well-drained upland areas throughout the property. An established network of ditches and trails provides excellent internal access for management and hunting. Recent light timber work completed in September created several new wildlife openings: a 5-acre dove field, a site for 2.5-acre duck impoundment, and a 1-acre food plot — ready for immediate use this season. The property is currently being upfitted with a one-acre pond, septic system, water, and RV hookups, adding tremendous convenience and versatility for camping, extended stays, or future development. The property is surrounded by exceptional cover and food sources. Hundreds of acres of active row-crop farmland border the tract to the north and south, while vast mature hardwood forests lie to the west, extending down to Catfish Creek. This combination makes Smithfield Plantation exceptionally rich in wildlife — particularly deer and turkey — with consistent sightings and harvest opportunities. Whether you're seeking a turnkey hunting retreat, a place to build family traditions, or a manageable timber and wildlife investment with added recreational amenities, Smithfield Plantation offers an outstanding balance of accessibility, habitat diversity, and proven productivity. Don't miss this rare opportunity in a highly desirable Marion County location. Contact me today to schedule a private showing and walk the trails yourself. Serious hunters and land enthusiasts will appreciate what this property has to offer.

"It's really sad the kids dont have nothing to do and there is no jobs. So trouble it is and quitting school is what they do drop out."
    • Jomo C.
"It's a great place. Everyone is friendly. It is very affordable. The schools are professional and helps development of the children."
    • Sharon W.
"I've lived in this community for 25 years and many industrial businesses have closed over the years. It has caused the economy to suffer and many people lost their homes and other belongings. What makes my community unique is that many new, small businesses have opened and are thriving. Many of them are black and Indian owned businesses which has created a widely diverse population. "
    • Joanne H.
"We moved here from the Northeast to retire to a milder climate. The weather is perfect. I am outside year-round. I love to garden. There is something blooming all winter. That took some getting used-to! But it's wonderful. We love being just close enough to the warm ocean and beachfront recreation at Myrtle Beach so it's an easy drive, and afterward, come home to the quiet charm of small-town living in this beautiful historical section of Marion. I can walk to the Post Office, the bank, the Library, restaurants, pharmacy, hardware store and a variety of gift, antiques and specialty shops just down the street in downtown Marion. And it's a lovely stroll under moss-draped shade trees, past historic buildings and several beautiful churches. City of Marion workers keep the town meticulously clean and several very active garden clubs keep Main Street plantings looking their best. There are a number of different annual community sponsored festivals, with family-oriented type fun. Something is scheduled nearly every month of the year. Some of the parades go right past our house, and the Classic Car Show extends practically to our doorstep. The Arts Council, Dance Studios, and churches bring us live theater shows, musical performances, heritage celebrations, dinners, and auctions. There is a saying in Marion - if you think there's nothing to do - You haven't been paying attention. Marion recently received a "fun city" designation for striving to provide as many quality recreational opportunities as possible for its youth. There are plenty of people here who work hard on a daily basis to make Marion better and better, yet it's one of South Carolina's best kept secrets ... folks call it "that pretty little town on the way to the beach." Sure, bad things happen here sometimes, but no place nowadays is immune. The majority of folks are friendly and easy to get to know. I think it's a wonderful place to call home."
