8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI still attend Heron Creek Middle School, and I feel it's important to highlight several serious concerns. First and foremost, the lack of discipline is alarming. Many students face little to no consequences for their actions, leading to a school culture where misbehavior, including fights, slurs, and casual racism, is prevalent and often overlooked. Additionally, some teachers resort to simply handing out worksheets without providing real instruction, which significantly impacts students’ learning experiences.Another issue is the presence of students who engage in inappropriate behavior, particularly a disturbing number of 'creepy' individuals who lack any sort of disciplinary action for their actions. This creates an uncomfortable and unsafe environment for many students. The Cambridge program, while beneficial for some, is growing rapidly, and the class sizes have ballooned to an average of 22 students per teacher, which only compounds the problem. It’s disheartening when administrators claim the school is a safe and effective learning environment, as this doesn't align with the reality many of us experience. The cafeteria situation is another area of concern. The food quality is inconsistent, and there’s a significant chance that what you get isn’t even properly cooked chicken, for example, is often served undercooked and pink. Moreover, the school promotes unhealthy eating choices, with cheap access to chips, soda, and ice cream. Given the small portion sizes for regular meals, it's no surprise that many students turn to these unhealthy snacks.Lastly, while the sports programs themselves are relatively good, there are some issues. The girls' basketball team, in particular, is notorious for being rude and bullying other students, which is completely unacceptable. There are also rumors about the former volleyball coach being involved in inappropriate behavior, further tarnishing the reputation of the school’s athletic programs.Student Review1y ago22 Reviews - STATE COLLEGE OF FLA COLLEGIATE SCHOOL-VENICE-0122

"Long commutes for professionals as there is only service industry or healthcare jobs in Englewood for the most part. "

"Nice, quiet neighborhood and close to all kinds of restaurants, stores, and Historic Dearborn Street-where there are lots of activities all year long. 2 beaches on the coast within a few miles. LOVE this town. It's close enough to larger cities without the high traffic and congestion!"

"Manasota Key is a wonderful, unique place to live or visit. I own and rent a condo here and every single person who visits can't stop raving about it. It has unique restaurants, beautiful beaches, quaint shops and is within 3 miles of any chain store you could possibly want. Most of all, it's very safe and has the old Florida charm. Low hassle factor and natural beauty makes for very happy and friendly people on this stretch of paradise."
