Need to know the difference between disrespect and valid questions being asked. 9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter attended this school from Pre-K through the end of 3rd grade and was expected to enter 4th grade next year. However, after several ongoing concerns and negative experiences, I made the difficult decision to transfer her to another school. One concern has been the front office staff and how situations are handled. Although school begins at 7:30 a.m., the front gates are closed around 7:22 a.m., giving students only a short window to enter before being required to check in through the front office. I believe the gates should remain open until the official start time. There was also a serious incident where another student physically assaulted my daughter and made inappropriate comments toward her. I was informed the students would be separated, but that arrangement was not followed, and they were later seated next to each other in class. I ultimately had to file a police report after my daughter came home with a visible red mark across her face.Another incident occurred when the school lost power for over an hour during hot weather. My sister attempted to pick my daughter up early, but the front office stated they could not contact the teacher because the phone lines were down and said my daughter would have to remain at school until dismissal. There was also an issue where my daughter’s father was denied permission to pick her up because staff claimed he was not listed as an authorized contact. When I later reviewed the paperwork, he was clearly listed. In addition, the phone number on my daughter’s demographic information belonged to another student’s grandparent. On another occasion, my daughter became seriously ill at school. While I understand policies are important, I felt the focus should have been more on my daughter’s condition rather than primarily on verifying my ID, especially since she has a medical condition.I also found it concerning that parents were not informed after reports that two men near the school were allegedly attempting to lure children. One of the men was later arrested. The main reason I kept my daughter enrolled as long as I did was because of the wonderful care provided by the school nurse, along with the kindness of Ms. Montree, Mrs. Even, and Ms. McDonel. Unfortunately, I strongly believe the front office staff would benefit from additional training in communication, organization, and handling parent concerns appropriately.Parent Review1mo ago16 Reviews - Cholla Middle School

"It’s a good neighborhood with schools very close. You can hear the footballs games at Cortez High School. Traffic is lower in the area and tends to be a little more quit than the rest of Phoenix. "
