3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt's really a heartbreak to send your kid to this place -- this is what we experienced in the one year we attended: numerous fights; bathrooms often closed; movement in the building so restricted during lunch that some kids couldn't really always get lunch; security guards made kids shake out their binders onto the floor in the hallway; an English teacher showed a highly inaccurate movie inspired by Beowulf instead of having kids read it (and the teacher oblivious that the film is way off); another teacher told kids that hurricanes in the Americas are created by the souls of enslaved people; my son would send me cell phone videos during class of multiple students just sleeping on their desks while the teacher was doing nothing. This place extinguished my son's interest in school. The name is being changed (which is great), but I hope the rest of the place can be improved for the general students. At the open house, all the principal talked about were the special tracks like early high school and the engineering program, which might not be so bad -- but what about the majority of the kids? We discovered that few of the more appealing course offerings were actually available.Other Review4y ago8 Reviews - Lake Shore Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has gone through a tremendous transformation. My student always comes home with something that she is working towards whether or not that is the FSA Sticker Sheets, this school even had a homework march madness event. The admin and teachers go above and beyond for their students and are always communicating through DOJO and very helpful. I feel blessed to have such a supportive school behind my child to help her get into a college preparatory middle school. Pinedale is an amazing place to send your kids and I am blessed to have my child grow so much academically and behaviorally from the support of this school.Parent Review4y ago6 Reviews - Check out schools near 685 Bridal Ave.

"Murray Hill is undergoing what some call a "Gentrification" process. Many of these lovely older homes are being bought, renovated and resold to more affluent (okay, usually caucasian) people who are not quite able to buy in Riverside or Avondale. The result is that more businesses are opening which, in turn, brings an influx of people from all social strata. Of course, it still has a way to go before it can compete with the likes of Avondale or Five Points...but just give it time! Yes, there are definitely areas and sometimes just blocks that one should avoid, but on the whole, the neighborhood has a good "Feel" to it and a fairly strong sense of community. Right now is a good time to move to Murray Hill because, from observing the measurable current trends, housing prices are going to rise steadily for the next few years."

"Not a good neighborhood for children. A lot of dogs. Not many places for them to play not a lot of places close by just for children. Usually see them walking in the street. A lot of people walk and it could be dangerous. Also not a lot of fenced in houses "
