3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIn my opinion, this school isn't as bad as people say it is ,I say they need to work on the security and safety here way more. The teachers aren't so bad although there is certain teachers who aren't the best, but an honorable mention that i'd say is a great teacher here at Peary middle school for 6th grade is Mrs.Kim,she provides a safe learning environment for her students and she praises her students for their achievements, not to mention all of her classes have turned out to be very smart and I say that's because of her teaching. But besides that, there is often fights here and people getting hurt and the office staff don't provide much support to family members which needs a change! PE teachers aren't bad either. An honorable mention for the PE teachers is Fletcher. He is super generous and he doesn't often yell at kids for no reason and he's fair to students.Although,I wouldn't recommend this school.Student Review2mo ago11 Reviews - Purche Avenue Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was a student here, a long time ago. I am now in a better position in life and want to give back to the place that helped forge me into the person I am today. Avalon Gardens played a large role in who I am today. I call the school, talk to the principle who seems like she is not a very friendly person, about donating, and finding out how I can help give back to the school. This woman tells me that her priority is to get electronic "chalk" boards in the classrooms. I looked these boards up online, they are starting at $8,000. I mean, aren't there more pressing materials kids need, other than another screen to look at. I was fortunate to make it to adulthood living in south central, unlike my classmate Khye Johnson and the countless others we lost, and I will give back in my own way. HOWEVER, I CAN TELL THE PRINCIPLE HAS NO IDEA WHAT IT'S LIKE TO LIVE AMONGST THE PEOPLE. We gotta break this vicious cycle of allowing people who can't relate to us, to teach our children. Electronic chalk boards, give me a break. No wonder the scores are where they are. My name is Charell Williams.Parent Review14y ago7 Reviews - Gardena Senior High School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis review is long overdue. My daughter graduated from Gardena High School in 2007, back then the school was great, she had an amazing 4 year run. Not sure how it is now, as I have no school age children :) After graduating my daughter went on to Tuskegee University, got her BSN at age 20, continued her studies and received her Masters Degree. She is a ARNP (Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner), AIRBNB Owner, Private School Owner and Real Estate owner. Gardena High was definitely part of her success and journey. She met so many friends at Gardena and to this day they are still very close professional friends. Kudos to Gardena High :)Parent Review4mo ago13 Reviews - Check out schools near 1565 W 132nd St #A.

"Not dog friendly. Narrow walkways, cars drive fast and a lot of stray cats with fleas. They also put a lot of chemicals on the plants and my dog got sick multiple times. "

"Been here for 4 years and it's a great family neighborhood with parks near. We walk our dog every night and watch the improvements everywhere. People are buying up and remodeling houses on almost every block. Close to shopping, freeways, beaches, malls, stores. When you see them build 40 new $1 million dollar homes here- there's no doubt the area is up and coming."
