6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePrior to last year, we sent our kids to a STEM magnet school, but we were unhappy with the support and the curriculum, so we sent them to this school, and it was the best decision we have made regarding our kids' education. Our kids went from moaning that they didn't want to go to school to actually cheerfully going to school each morning. The special education team especially is wonderful. My autistic son was very nervous about going to a new school, so before he started, the special education team made him videos of all of his teachers saying hi to him and what they'd be teaching him. I was absolutely blown away. They were so kind and helpful during the year and he made so much progress - especially socially. Our younger son (who does not have an IEP and is neurotypical) had a really hard time transitioning to a new school, but his teacher was very understanding and put in place a support group for him which included herself, the school social worker, and the special education team. They checked in regularly with us to let us know his progress, and he eventually came to really love the school and his teachers. They post curriculum online, which is a huge thing for us (did not happen at the magnet school). I was also excited that our sons learned about history, which is something they did not learn at the magnet school. All in all, we are very thankful for the staff at Derynoski and glad to be sending our kids here.Parent Review3y ago2 Reviews - John F. Kennedy Middle School

"I have a dog and I feel safe walking her around. There is a dog park walking distance on the trail. I have not seen any dogs not on a leash and I believe that it’s safe to walk with or without a dog. "

"Southington is a great place to grow up and raise a family no matter what stage you’re at. It’s a very accessible town and lots of privacy while still getting plenty of options of stores you can get to quickly and easily. I’d recommend parents always watch their children anywhere because the world is nuts everywhere but I’ve never felt unsafe or anything negative about living here. Again…. "Dog would love our neighborhood. Plenty of walking, and lots of yard space. Everyone on our road has a dog/cat in the Neighborhood. Sometimes the loud barking in the morning is annoying however it doesn’t last to to long. Good Dog Owners "
