Staff is great and the communication with teachers is like a private school which helps to make it more easy transition from preschool to a big school like LAUSD Schools. They really care about each child and making sure that everyone is seeing ! Highly recommended!!Parent Review3mo ago42 Reviews - George Ellery Hale Charter Academy

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI’ve had three of my children attend Hale and honestly I have no complaints. Two sons attended the regular school, one with an IEP and 504 plan and my daughter is currently in the Gifted Steam magnet and I’m honestly impress with the academics, support, activities available and the administration. Previous administration didn’t really let parents know what was going on but the new administration is very proactive and communicates with parents about any issues or concerns. I’m not saying it’s a perfect school because it’s a middle school with students going thru puberty but it is an environment where my children feel safe, my concerns are addressed and efforts are being made to make sure that students are supported and that they thrive. They have tutoring and support for students after school, clubs to encourage engagement and teachers that do their jobs. The special education department was also very helpful in helping my students receive the accommodations necessary to succeed in their classes.Parent Review4mo ago50 Reviews - El Camino Real Senior High School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI've lived in the valley my whole life and have known of ElCo's stellar reputation. Visiting the campus for shows in the auditorium or games on the field feels a bit like walking into a high school movie. The campus is clean, classrooms are largely upgraded, and you can tell the school is well-funded.Unfortunately, however, the school's good looks on the outside mask what's going on inside. Campus police are a CONSTANT presence, under the guise of safety. But there is a huge difference between having a learning community that prioritizes safety and one that prioritizes rules, regulations, law & order *so* heavily that the school feels more like a prison than an inclusive, supportive learning enviornment. Trust me, take the tour. You'll hear them proudly talk all about constant locker sweeps, WEEKLY drug-sniffing dogs, and their officers stationed at every entrance and exit. The still engage in old school "tardy sweeps" (which we called "tardy lockouts" back in the day), which means that teachers are instructed to lock all doors to, quite literally, LOCK OUT any/all students who are running late to class. It's just another punitive tool in their discipline toolbelt. They also brag about how their ROTC is apparently second in the nation. Second for what, I'm not entirely sure. But I can tell you that a group of 14-15 year-olds warming up for PE are literally being marched to "left, left, left, right, left" whilst looking generally miserable and tired. If you want to send your children to a psuedo military school or think your child would thrive being educated in what feels like a police state, then by all means, enroll at ECR! But if you prioritize SEL learning, authoritative (NOT authoritarian) discipline, and a kind culture that pull students up as opposed to pushing them down and back in line, look elsewhere.Parent Review7mo ago32 Reviews - Check out schools near 7713 Woodhall Ave.

"My community is closer to a major mall and to a good high school. The traffic to get to a major freeway could take about 15 to 20 minutes."

"West Hills a tight-knit community where a good amount of neighbors know and watch out for each other. Nobody really bothers anyone, people are more likely to help than hurt others; therefore, it is a peaceful and comfortable place to live and raise a family. "

"Everyone is friendly and keeps to themselves. No crime and it’s always been a safe neighborhood! I’m sure if there was a problem that would arise I would take care of our neighbors and I’d hope they’d do the same for me. "

"they would love the amount of dogs they would see! I think it is a big deal for pet owners to realize that a lot of people in their neighborhood also have pets, because it makes them realize that others appreciate the important and love of pets "

"you see them walking a lot around sunset there are trails that people like to take their dogs on but small dogs are in constant danger from coyotes that jump the fences regularly in the area and owls. they come down from the local mountains looking for food. larger animals are much safer here but a pack can easily take down a single large dog if desperate enough "

"My next door neighbor is a sweet little old lady. I’ve been over to her place from time to time to check up on her and help with little chores around the house. She’s very nice and I’ve never come across this at other places I’ve lived in "

"I have lived here since I was born and am now raising my young child here. It is a great area in Los Angeles to raise children. It is secluded enough to feel like you are away from the city noise and traffic, and yet only 15 minutes from some of the highest end shopping and restaurants in the area. Homes in this area are rarely on the market; most of my neighbors have lived here for at least 15 years and plan to for many more. Mostly everyone takes pride in their home in our community, and looks out for each other in the neighborhood. It has been this way since it was built in the late 1980s and continues to remain so (only with the houses being continually updated and modernized!). It is an expensive community, but proves to be well worth the investment. "

"There are a lot of elementary schools in the areas of west hills and Canoga Park. There are many charter and magnet schools that offer various focuses. If your home school does not suit your child’s specific needs there is plenty of opportunity to enter a lottery to get your child into a preferred school. If you are not admitted through lottery and you have to go to your home school, the schools in the area are great. There is something about going to school with your neighbors that makes a neighborhood a community it is an aspect often not considered in the search for quality education. Knowing your neighbors creates community which is a great thing for children."
