5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI survived my employment at Bastrop High School by pulling the plug after a few months. Drugs run rampant at the school as well as out of control students. No support from administrators and a very unpleasant environment all together. The students run the show. Each one is given a tablet for school work but nearly all of the students spend the majority of the classroom time watching videos and playing games online. Even after finding out the name of the website and the URL, the administrators didn’t care to pursue the info I gave them. The last straw was when I was told that I had to take my lunch at 10:45 a.m. rather than my usual noon time break. I quickly typed up my letter of resignation, finished out the day, signed out for good and returned the equipment. Best day ever!Other Review2mo ago10 Reviews - Bastrop Middle School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved from San Antonio and my son went through BMS for both 7th and 8th grade. He had amazing teachers and took all Pre-AP classes. He was in student council and loved every second of middle school. He had awesome teachers with years of experience. He was commended on his math test and completed his high school algebra credit while attending BMS. We have nothing but wonderful reviews for BMS.Parent Review5y ago4 Reviews - Bastrop Intermediate School

"Halloween trick or treating is a huge event on Pecan St. There is an annual music festival and lots of live music at Neighbors Kitchen and Yard. Tons of parades in the fall and spring. "

"There is a fenced-in dog park just behind Whataburger. Most dog owners pick up after their dogs but there are a few who don’t. "

"There are lots of other dog owners around and people take good care of their dogs and let each other know if there are any lose dogs around so that if anyone recognizes them they can let their Owners know. "

"Small town atmosphere with a classic old town district. Close enough to Austin for easy access to big city items, but with big supermarket and department chains available within city limits. The Lost Pines ecology and Colorado River make it a unique place to live."

"The neighborhood is beautiful and very safe. The deer roam freely and u often see roadrunners crossing the road. There are no rentals allowed where I live and the HOA keeps a tight rein so the yards are beautiful. Honestly , it’s paradise until the water bill comes during the summer or when the HOA fee is deducted from your checking account every month. On the other hand, the homes hold their value, the homeowners are kept informed of anything happening in the neighborhood and the gym, pool and amenities center are always clean and in good shape. "

"There is a 2 dog per household limit in my subdivision. I believe you are also allowed two Cats. I have yet to hear someone being fined for having too many animals and ignoring HOA guidelines, but it could definitely happen. "

"The people are very neighborly. The town is clean and has some historic sites. It has the Colorado river running right through the town and some great restaurants right on the river where you can sit outside on the patio and watch the sunset and enjoy the live music that they have on weekends and watch the river or go for a walk on the river walk."

"The neighborhood is always beautiful in the spring, with wonderful gardens and well kept yards. Everyone is friendly, the area is very pet friendly also. There are a few who get around in golf carts and the town is very accessible that way, without having to start your car. "
