4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI enjoyed this school from when I was a student here years ago and after moving back to Andrews a couple of years ago and raising my grandchild (whose friends are sweethearts whenever they visit our home.) During their visits, I heard the friends my grandchild has about the teachers who do not know what they are doing. It is sad to admit that they do not care about their work. Some faculty care about their work, but others only care about their jobs and not their work. I have heard from many in the community and on social media that the administration needs to change. With them, I think that it is just who knows who. Also, I have heard through other sources about bad stuff happening at the high school with teachers and administrators that gets swept under the rug and has been for at least the past 15-20 years with bad apples in coaching positions getting caught. I wish they would focus on the kids and teaching them and not try to cause the school to make the rounds of the news.Parent Review1y ago14 Reviews - Andrews Middle School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a student who recently finished 8th grade here, I cannot recommend Andrews Middle School. The environment created by the adults in this building is toxic and, in my experience, genuinely unsafe for students' mental and physical well-being.The counseling staff claim students "fake" their bad mental health The administration and principals look down on at-risk youth and their families. This school is treating struggling children like a nuisance rather than human beings who need protection.Furthermore, the school is filled with severe bullying that goes completely unaddressed. I have personally submitted anonymous reports about bullying, and the administration ignores them entirely. Their priorities are completely backward—when I reported a kid looking at someone else's grades without permission, they handled it immediately, but actual bullying and severe mental health crises are completely swept under the rug.The administration also enforces lazy, reactive rules that actively hurt our education, specifically "No Technology Wednesday." Because students were playing games in class, and the administration gave up on trying to block the endless stream of gaming websites, they decided to "test out" removing Chromebooks entirely every Wednesday. They implemented this rule just 6 to 12 weeks before standardized testing, and teachers had not accounted for it in their lesson plans. Because of this, Wednesdays became a total joke. We either did absolutely nothing, got handed a ridiculously easy assignment, or the teacher just did the work for us. I finish my work very fast, so I routinely had to bring books, games, and toys from home just to survive the boredom of class periods where no actual teaching was happening. Banning essential learning tools right before major state tests because the adults gave up on website filtering is a massive failure in leadership. While a few individual teachers are nice, and the extracurricular activities are good, they do not make up for an administration and counseling staff that actively sabotages its own students' learning and ignores their basic safety.Student Review1w ago7 Reviews - Devonian Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDevonian has to be one of the worst schools in the state of Texas. My son has been bullied both years at the school. The principal like to sweep things under the rug and wait for them to go away. The staffs hardly ever informs the principal of these issues either. NOT a safe or effective schoolParent Review13y ago4 Reviews - Underwood Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy 5th grader has three days of detention because my wife handed their phone to them so I could wish a great first day to them before all of the students or class had even began. Just stupidity at its finest! We made a great impression and got them excited to go back when they do not even know why they are getting punished. Huddle up and get this phone issue and all situations or circumstances on when it falls into that play across the board with faculty because you ask someone why or what did they do and have no idea and the next person doesn't know either and so forth.Parent Review11mo ago2 Reviews - Clearfork Elementary School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageUnfortunately, Clearfork has created a bad reputation for AISD. I know someone who is like a sibling from another mother who had to fight tooth and nail to get their kid help since their kid has a learning disability. It affects the student, not the faculty, which is why half of them do not care. Clearfork went from the No Child Left Behind mantra to Leave None of the Non-Special Education Students Behind. Not sure about the other schools, but Clearfork is always a pain to deal with, and where a lot of people deal with issues in the community.Other Review2mo ago7 Reviews - Check out schools near 201-203 SW 8th St.
