8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers at this school are great. They really care and want to see your child succeed. I really liking the direction the school is taking to meet the new state standards. I think there needs to be more teacher supervision during free times like recess and lunch to avoid bullying which is happening a lot.Parent Review12y ago6 Reviews - Glenside Middle School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Average**Our family's first year at Glenside Middle School has been deeply troubling, and we feel compelled to speak out.**Our child’s tenured teacher has implemented classroom rules and practices that often feel unfair and, at times, harsh—especially toward well-behaved students and those with special needs. Students have been addressed with remarks such as:- “If you paid attention, you'd know what we're on.”- “If you were listening, you'd know how to do this.”- Comments about the teacher’s personal reputation.Even if these statements weren’t intended to be hurtful, they are not constructive ways to guide young minds. A classroom should foster encouragement and learning—not fear or shame. When our child told this teacher they felt ill, they were told “You’re fine” and sent back to their seat, denied access to the school nurse. This is unacceptable. In less than two months of school, there have been multiple incidents of theft and disruptive behavior. Yet instead of addressing the individuals responsible, the entire class is punished. Students lose privileges regardless of their involvement, and personal belongings—including items provided by teachers—have gone missing. This blanket discipline approach is deeply unfair. How can a 10-year-old be expected to control the behavior of others when the responsible adult in the room cannot?Despite these concerns, we want to acknowledge the bright spots: our child’s counselor, several non-homeroom and Specials teachers (Music, STEM, Art, LMC), and those who lead after-school programs have been supportive and positive influences.Still, our child now dreads going to school. They feel powerless and disrespected by a teacher they cannot escape or defend themselves against. We understand the need for rules and structure, but what we’re hearing is alarming.**If your child attends Glenside, please talk to them. Ask how they feel about their classroom experience—really listen and take action to protect your child. If you're considering enrolling your child here, we urge you to think twice. Peer bullying is already a serious concern at this school (as reported in other posts here), but when the mistreatment comes from a teacher, it's beyond unacceptable. Our children deserve better.**Parent Review7mo ago20 Reviews - Glenbard West High School

"Typical suburb. Close to the city, not enough public transportation. Enough privacy not very loud. People are friendly overall and it’s good location. Glendale Heights is in the heart of dupage county and any towns are within 25 min drive"
