5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is horrible for individuals with disabilities. On the first day of school, the elevator was broken--staff insisted a student with a physical disability to use the stairs, which is an ADA violation. Academically, staff do not follow students' IEPs or needs, so parents must monitor closely to prevent mistreatment. Communication is poor, it takes a long time to get a response from staff via email or phone. If you have a student with an IEP, consider taking them elsewhere. If not, ensure their services are implemented at this school. Students with physical disabilities or learning challenges may require alternative options, such as out-of-district placement with transportation at the districts expense. To substantiate your claims, gather supporting evidence. If your request is denied, make sure it's in writing. You may need to file for due process with a special education attorney. Overall, the lack of support for students with disabilities and IEPs is a significant concern at this school.Parent Review5mo ago22 Reviews - Santa Margarita Elementary School

"I love getting around Oceanside! Some of the roads could definitely use a little maintenance but it’s a great coastal town to get around."

"There is no open space to exercise a big dog. Dog park? Forget that. Recently Oceanside, on Peacock Rd, covered over grass in the median and replaced it with gravel. The one nice place to walk is now gone. "

"This is not a place for big dogs. I have a Golden. There is nothing open space to run. Older residents rant at us. "

"The dog owners are very kind and responsible with their dogs. They don’t let them bark all day long like some neighborhoods do. It’s a pretty quiet neighborhood as far as barking dogs. They pick up after pets too! "

"Very safe and calm area. Nice parks but don’t go too far into the city as it can get dangerous and sketchy."

"Traffic is awful. 90 mins to San Diego. 78 is chock a block in mornings. Traffic simply awful. And rail line closed for months at a time due to bluff collapse"

"What makes our neighborhood unique is having shops (grocery, retail, nails, hair, gym, ymca, hiking trails), the train that takes you into downtown Oceanside to downtown San Diego, great local gems, Enzo’s, draft all within walking distance. "
