About this House

This amazing masterpiece was renovated and restoration by the current owner for next generation in this 19,000sq Ft home and you won’t miss the opportunity yet to be safe in this house and you have so much square feet to spend time with your family and friends. was originally built for the Enger family by Matthew H. Burton. After serving as several personal residences and even a Xavier dorm for a spell, the house has been updated for its new family, which includes three children and a French bulldog. Fast forward 120 years later, the house has undergone a bit of an interior facelift. But the current owner purchased 992 Marion Av and after the Enger family had left, Marion Hall has had some stories to tell. In 1943, Xavier University took over the mansion, turning it into a dormitory. It remained in Xavier's hands until 1991. One can only imagine the ragers... It was also, at one time, the grandparents' home of well-known Cincinnatian Melody Sawyer Richardson. When the Engers moved into their new home in 1898, they were treated to new technology that would make 19th Century life more luxurious. One of these was an elevator that would take guests and family members from the great room on the first floor to the ballroom on the third floor and back down to the bowling alley that ran the length of the basement.The butlers pantry was even complete with a built in refrigeration system. Nothing was spared in making each room unique to purpose and style. Frank and his family lived in this house from 1898 till 1919 when his wife Pearl sold it a few years after his death.
