This school is horrible. My children went to the school one year. They will never be back ever. I will never recommend this school to anyone for their children at all. My nephew have been stabbed in the abdomen with a pencil. Nothing was done. His hair has been cut. They cut plugs on his hair. Nothing was done that him, and his twin have been jumped and they’re only in the first grade by a first grader and his siblings that are in I believe the third grade 4th grade My Son has been jumped multiple times at this school and nothing has been done. My oldest nephew have been jumped at this school and nothing has been done. This school is terrible. you can’t get in there to talk when you need to. They have adults fighting up at the school. My nephew was hitting the face with the golf club. I wouldn’t recommend my dog to go to this school if I had a cat that either this school needs a new staff new principal just a whole remaking and like I said this is my children’s first year in a school in Detroit, but this school they will never ever go to ever again. I couldn’t get past the screen without giving them at least one star if it was left up to me, they would’ve had no stars so they got good with getting that.

Denby is located in the 48205 zip code, which the Detroit News deemed Michigan s Deadliest Zip Code. The majority of our students live in the 48205 and 48234 zip codes. Over the last 15 years this area has been one of the hardest hit in the country. Many of the students served by Denby come from an impoverished background. It has the highest number of abandoned structures, the highest parole and probation rate, a very high unemployment rate and is plagued by high illiteracy rates. These conditions normally result in high dropout rates. Denby has done a great job of supporting students and families with wrap around services to address the many issues facing the students. They do a great job of creating a family atmosphere to support students. Their college advisor does a great job of exposing students to post-secondary opportunities. They have also created many student led auxiliaries and clubs that students are engaged in. They, like all other Detroit area schools, are focusing on raising academics and attendance. Denby however, recognizes that you must also address the conditions that hinder academic success. These are some of the major reasons why Denby is a GREAT SCHOOL!
