Most of the teachers I have met are kind and caring. They even say hello to you in the hallway even if they do not have your child as a student. The teachers here seem to really enjoy their careers and their students. I have not seen a grumpy face or stern voice yet.

"I grew up in the town. Gates is part of the County and is definitely a small town. If you want to raise your children in a quiet country neighborhood this is the place. Just note that you are at least 30 mins away from everything. "

"No sidewalks and not a lot of walking areas that are safe from traffic, other than not good country life"

"Area boasts mostly average sized agricultural farms, cow farms, hobby farms and equestrian properties. Home is conveniently located near state maintained Route 13 with easy and quick access to Ahoskie, NC; Murfreesboro, NC; Elizabeth City, NC; Franklin, VA; Suffolk City, VA all within a 25 to 35 minute drive. Approximately 1 hour to Naval Station Norfolk, VA (in good traffic) 1 hour 30 minutes (in congested traffic); Deep Creek, VA approximately 45 minutes; Greenbriar Chesapeake 50 minutes; 45 minutes to Chesapeake Square Mall; 1 hour 30 minutes to Petersburg, VA; 1 hour 40 minutes to Richmond, VA. There is a local Post Office about 15 minutes away, local recycle center about 10 minutes away, all schools within a 15 minute drive from this home. There are 3 hospitals withing 25-40 minutes from this home (Ahoskie, NC; Franklin, VA; and Suffolk Obici near Suffolk City). There are local gas stations and several convenience stores within a 10-15 minute drive from this home as well. The difference from living here and within Hamptons Roads is you are not stuck in traffic or waiting at lights to get to your shopping or medical centers. Commuting is less stressful and much more enjoyable! I easily and quickly adjusted to the area in terms of driving to shopping and medical facilities... wait in traffic for the same amount of time it takes in Hampton Roads to get to your destination or drive the same amount of time to get to your destination in a relaxed state of mind. Which would you rather have? "
