Neighborhood Description
Just outside metro area, so drive into town is short. Very quiet, crime is almost unheard of here. The most noise heard is in the fall during harvest time, the ocassional combine off in the distance.
Bathroom downstairs was redone in 2016, which changed the floor plan to allow pass thru from the living area, thru the bathroom, and into the downstairs bedroom. All new fixtures, shower and plumbing were done at that time. Heated ceramic tile floor in that bathroom.
Newer additions in 2017 include a brand new kitchen with updated alder wood cabinets and granite countertops. The floor plan of the kitchen was also redone to make better use of the space. New Amish made patio door was also installed, which brings better energy efficiency and design elements. Living room was done in the same time frame as well, all new paint, railing, flooring, and trim done at that time. 3 of the bedrooms are the only carpet, the rest flooring is luxury vinyl. Entry ways are ceramic tile.
In 2020 a new deck on the back of the house was installed using treated lumber for structure, composite decking and a cedar pergola with clear polycarbonate roofing.
Also in 2021 all the windows were replaced with either 2 or 3 pane, energy efficient units with sliders in the larger windows, and double hung in the smaller ones.
Also in 2021 a 15.6 KW solar array was installed with a net metering system. At the same time the overhead power was removed and a underground conduit replaced it. The service was expanded to 320 amps to accommodate the solar array, and to increase power available to the garage. Further solar additions to the detached garage are pending.
