Potter Valley Elementary school is wonderful. My son entered the third grade at Potter Valley Elementary from a private school. He scored at a very low first grade reading level. Now, 4 months into the 4th grade, he is right on target. In short, he improved 3 reading levels in one year at this school. His math has also improved. The teachers use love and logic and hold children accountable for their actions/non actions. All the staff is very friendly yet professional. I travel from out of town to bring my child to this school.

It gives students the opportunity to advance at there own pace and give them what they need to keep advancing. Freshmen get college credits by taking CCS100 which is a graduation requirement.

Potter Valley Jr. High is grades 7-8. It is on the same campus as the elementary and high schools, and it shares staff with the high school. The school is very small - usually around 20 students per grade - so class sizes are small and there is a lot of opportunity for individual attention. The staff is energetic and truly committed to the kids here, and afterschool help is readily available. The Jr. High has a traditional outdoor education field trip to Yosemite every other year, and there is a summer Algebra Academy after 8th grade that has field trips to visit colleges across California. Many students opt to play sports and anyone who wants to play is welcomed. There are strong programs for music and art.
