About this House
This wonderful townhome is right across the street from the University of Chicago Athletic Center. Its a short walk to the U of C Hospitals and all of the campus buildings. Built in the 1960s, this brick construction building is at the end of the row on townhomes, so it has great light and one assigned parking space as well as one shared guest parking space. The first and second floors have the original hardwood floors which have been covered by plush carpeting. The living room has big south facing windows which flood the room with sunlight all day long. The dining room easily accommodates a large table. The kitchen has white Euro style cabinets and a built-in table. Lots of cabinet space and counter space makes this a great room for a crowd. There is even a pantry closet. The back door leads out to a private garden with two trees. The fence was replaced just this past year by the homeowners association. There is a strip of land next to the home, between it and the alley, so that the east light is unobstructed. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms and two full baths. Each bedroom has mirrored closet doors, and the master bedroom spans the entire width of the front of the house. In the basement is a large finished recreation room with south windows filling it with sunlight. In the rear is a large laundry/work room and an enclosed utility room. The 50 gallon hot water heater was just replaced. The vinyl flooring makes this level easy to care for. Rarely can you find such a great space so close to the University at such an affordable price. With two parking spaces, it is an unusual find. Its any easy walk to everything that makes Hyde Park specialfrom the University to the bookstores to the restaurants to the shops. Its even down the block from the Starbucks and Jimmys Woodlawn Tap.
