About this House

Enjoy gracious village living in this spacious, light-filled 1898 home located a few blocks from the heart of historic Saugerties or use all or part of the property for short-term rentals. Built in the Federal style, this lovely multi-story home features 5 bedrooms, 2 full baths, and 2 half-baths along with an attractive 1-bed, 1-bath accessory apartment with separate entrance. For the past three years, both the main home and the apartment have been available for short-term rentals for family reunions, vacationers, and people participating in nearby HITS competitive horse shows. Hardwood floors and tall windows enhance the home's beautifully proportioned rooms, while North-facing windows on the upper floors provide views of the Catskills. The main home's front door opens to a central hall flanked by two grand living rooms. There are fireplaces in two rooms off the well-appointed kitchen, ideal for relaxing when the air turns cooler. Imagine logs crackling on an autumn afternoon after you or your guests have visited a pumpkin patch or apple orchard. Or imagine reading by the fireplace in an overstuffed armchair as snow falls outside. A half-bath completes the downstairs. A graceful curving staircase with period details leads to the second floor, where one of the three generous bedrooms contains yet another fireplace. This floor includes one full bath with a clawfoot tub, a half-bath, and a large laundry room. Another staircase leads to the third floor, where two bedrooms and a sizable bonus room are located. This floor includes one full bath, also with a clawfoot tub. For those using the home as a residence, each of the third-floor rooms could serve a different purpose. Possibilities include one or more offices for remote work, a playroom, den, craft studio, or library. This magnificent historic home also features an open-air porch off the kitchen and a screened-in porch toward the back. The 1-bedroom apartment has a deck with room for Adirondack chairs and a grill. Three sides of the property are surrounded by a charming white-picket fence. Public and private schools are nearby. The village of Saugerties boasts an independent bookstore, movie house, music venue, bagel shop, and diner, plus bakeries, chocolate shops, restaurants, cafes, and boutiques. A seasonal farmers market is held across the street near the Saugerties Historical Society and 1727 Kiersted House. Exit 20 of the NYS Thruway is a short 1.5 miles away. The famous village of Woodstock is just over 10 miles. Kingston is less than 15 miles. Local ski spots include Belleayre and Windham. HITS-on-the-Hudson is 1.3 miles away, near the 127-acre Cantine Field sports and recreation complex. Additional Information: Amenities:Guest Quarters,Storage,

"bad neighborhood for dogs. major high way, lots of speeding and dead animals. also wild animals that are big enough to kill house cats."
  • Melissa S.
"There are a lot of children in the area. Parents should be aware of drivers in the area, they are not the safest drivers unfortunately, they can be careless and reckless! It is a very nice area to live in! "
  • Margarita Asiain
"It's quiet, unassuming, not pretentious. Saugerties has a pretty village with restaurants, shops and old movie theatre, and spreads out so much of it is quite rural, which I love."
  • Tom
"Its a quiet area. It lies somewhere happily between seclusion and convenience. A 5-10 minute drive to downtown Woodstock and Saugerties and all that entails. A 5-10 minute drive to miles upon miles of hiking and backpacking trails. Some of which connect to and stretch for the eastern coast of the US, from Vermont to Georgia. A 30 minute drive to multiple micro cities, ski resorts and villages and a 60 minute drive to Albany and Newburgh which each have their own perfectly sized airports. I think the area is the perfect place to live when you don't want to deal with the stresses of the modern world but still want the convenience of it."
  • Jason K.
"The sawyer car show is absolutely amazing. I enjoy the Christmas in the village as well, the Siracusano family really contributes to the community and I am honored to be a part of it. Saugerties in general is just a great place to relax on the town and enjoy everything that it has to offer. "
  • Ajrmasonry
"There are many families here and many great parks and sporting events throughout the summer and most of the year"
  • Deborahabarry
"5 miles to major grocery store. Many local shops in the village 7 miles to mall shopping in Kingston Thruway exit right there"
  • Ajrmasonry
"There is always something going on in the neighborhood! Plus Saugerties is known for its festivals. "
  • Mike N.
"I've lived here my whole life and it's an ok town to live and raise kids but expensive to live here "
  • Samantha c.
"Calm streets, nice scenery and a million hiking trails for long walks. Good local vets and not far from Woodstock Dog Park. "
  • Jkalkire
"Friendliness of the people. We all have a common goal and seem to watch out for one another without getting into each other's business."
  • Sheila H.
"It's a beautiful little town, close to the city, and has everything. village swimming, designer stores, horses, charm."
