fmms is a great school don't get me wrong, but some things are too far. one- the bathroom passes. sure its a great way to stop kids from skipping class, but we only have 9 chances to go to the bathroom during class for the whole 9 weeks. and teachers insist we use the bathrooms, but they get locked during passing periods (which are four minutes?!) so we are forced to go to the bathroom during class. its a ridiculous way to their take on bathrooms.two- yondr poucheswhy. just why. im not just speaking for fmms when i say this, but for any school with yondr. what are these pouches for? they prevent us from contacting any police or parent/guardian if there is a life-threatening emergency going on inside of the school. and getting kids in trouble because they either do t lock it or just forget their yondr is so stupid. kids should be allowed to have their phones in their backpack, but i think that teachers should have “phone jails” at the beginning of class, so we can still get our education. the yondr pouches are highly unnecessary, and super expensive. one pouch costs about 15-20 dollars, multiply that by how many students there are in our school and it is over 10,000 dollars. why are we using this money for yondr pouches instead of installing safer protocols in the school?three- hiring first year teachers they cannot teach at all, and the classes are all so disruptive because they cant figure out how to quiet them down.i think the school should change their ways for how they do these topics. sure, it can and might lead to problems, but thats why alternative schools and cameras exist. the school shouldn't be flaunting their money from fundraisers or families willingly giving their money to them on unnecessary items just for them to get rid of them sooner than later. it doesn't make sense why any of these “protocols” exist. i’m a current 8th grader at the school, and its okay so far, but i’ve seen at least 70 people breaking these “rules” that aren't that set in stone. do better.

Kids are seating on the floor to learn. The phone pouches are ineffective. Just a bad school now.

Based on a primary example, I should be giving the school one star but I want to give them the benefit of the doubt because they have so many great, positive qualities. The family engagement is high and the involvement can be seen everywhere. There are so many traditions and customs which unite the school. However the experience of having your child put in a closet as detention for not understanding their work and finishing it alone while their classmates go outside for recess is despicable. Not only was I her parent, but a loyal teacher/staff member. For this reason, I left and would suggest that teachers receive background checks, but more importantly, supervision. Although there are several amazing teachers, it takes only one bad apple. This will forever scar my daughter.
