I have been a student at this school for 2 year starting on my 3rd and so far it has been horrible experience in every way. There are definitely a couple good teachers there but most of them just give out worksheets and homework everyday leaving us students no time to learn about the subject or rest and any personal activities outside of school. There is also no alternative learning for people that have reading disabilities or learn differently at all, which because there has been a huge increase of immigration of non-English speaking kids. Another big problem with this school is a large amount of the teachers are racist against those same immigrants and anyone not white to the point I’ve seen kids been called slurs and racially stereotyped during class without remorse or care. The teachers are not the only problem though, the consolers and principals also have a lot of problems. For instance the consolers are usually gone and when they are at the school they simply don’t care about the students, one example is from personal experience where my race was mistakenly put down as white, I am clearly not white and I’ve requested to have it corrected multiple times and it has never been. Another reason I believe they are problematic is because of drug use and crime inside of the school. I have witnessed and experienced drug deals and people getting assaulted during school hours, but the worst part of it is that the principal and staff know of it and don’t do anything about it or try to stop it. Most of this town is already a mess and dangerous but the school is at least supposed to be a safe place and a source of hope to get out of this place. Out of everyone I know only a handful of people believe they will make it out of this place and be able to go to college or find a job.
