  • Armando Rey Gaetán
"Normal, as if anyone walking there dog. Enjoying the walk with there companion dog. I don’t think there’s anything not to like about the neighborhood. It’s quiet everyone keeps to themselves and it’s just an overall great little suburb. "
  • Michelle Walker
"The culture. Chicago is like no other city. From the food to the lingo/accent, you won’t find anything better."
  • Jordan Mullins
"It’s a school around the corner there is a park and there are stores nearby nice people the area is also nice"
  • Theshaveking
"I lived in this neighborhood for two years. The neighbors are friendly and do a good job, keeping the area clean outside of the park district personnel."
  • Trulia User
"I lived there my entire life. it has its ups and downs, but my experience jas been overall positive. Relatively quiet area for the most part. "
  • Trulia User
"The area has plenty transportation options and plenty neighborhood stores. I grew up in the Austin area for over 40 years."
  • Trulia User
"Great place o live. Been there for 40 years. Love the food near by. Love going the JJ fish and chips near by"
  • Trulia User
"Grew up in this area and still family here too. it's what you make it. Love that it's at Oak Park and many suburbs. Great Transportation. "
  • Trulia User
"continuing to getting better, crime in the area is bad. public transportation access I'd greatly but dealing with some of the crime, it's just better to drive. it's is getting g better slowly."
  • Trulia User
"Heavy police presence with a lot of crime. Terrible schools, best perk is it’s near oak park a much better neighborhood"
  • Eason L.
"Easy to get to work bus stop not far from house bus service run on a regular and fast grocery stores are. Not far at all from my house "
  • Samuel L.
"There are no community events in this area mostly just large gathering of friends and family, but nothing that invites everyone in the area"
  • Francisco B.
"i see people walking their dogs around the area... some cats are around the area too... i have no seeing rats "
  • Craig C.
"Be as careful as possible with your family out in this area. Some spaces are safe and well maintained others are sketchy and unsafe. Be aware of your surroundings "
  • Trulia User
"Not the friendly. Depends if you live on a quiet block you may enjoy living here. But if you’re on a busy block you will have problems with neighbors , police , people walking their dogs and lots of trash . Sometimes it can be a headache. Tent has gotten so high. "
  • Chanej25
"I grew up in the North Austin area in Chicago. I currently live in South Austin. There is a difference. There is trash everywhere. It is not a very safe area. People hanging out in front of the corner stores. My car got broken into. When I made a police report the cop told me this area is notorious for auto theft and break ins. The pro is that it's close to Oak Park and closer to my job. "
  • Makaela M.
"I lived in the Austin Area for a little over a decade. grew up over there. the distinguishable difference between the south and west sides are the things in surrounding areas. corner stores, fast food, tiny local grocery stores, that kinda thing and they don't come and go nearly as often. Austin has had the same alderman for YEARS, the community is comfy with her. things have certainly changed, the neighborhood ebbs and flows but I've never truly felt uncomfortable. not riding my bike on my block, or walking to and from the train station during my rebellious teen yrs. the people who've been there, have likely been there for YEARS, their families live there too. just recently started becoming a little gentrified. "
  • Maggy R.
"Is good I have no problems with anyone and I’ve been living here for 3 years everyone is pretty nice "
  • Janetjacks467
"They should keep a close eye on their kids when they let them go outside to ensure their safety. There are a couple of near by parks to the children and nearby grocery stores to go to. Overall the neighborhood is quiet and majority of the neighbors stay to themselves. "
  • Louvenia C.
"The dog always really enjoy that there are other friendly dogs in the neighborhood I really enjoy the Austin neighborhood"
  • Grannie G
"Be involved in your child’s daily life. Know their friends and the activities they indulge in. The streets are not safe but with proactive parents, we can keep our children a lot safer. "
  • Terrencetlewis
"owning our neighborhood school hospital bank and clinic that's the only option there no other way for us to grow as a race"
  • Genesis D.
"The area is ok but violence is everywhere, there are plenty of schools and public transportation is used everywhere "
  • Oscar A.
"everything not safe dirty drugs no parking shotting to much garbage everywhere srug selling 00000000000"
  • Jamillah W.
"I drive so my commute is great. If I need to go downtown I catch the train, but I park close to the train station."
  • Latoya D.
"people don't like to see dogs being walked near their property if the pet owner don't clean up after it. "
  • Kennethbritton340

  • John C.
"High traffic area of the sell of drugs at times. Late night parties in the street at the corner. In which I believe it’s due to traffic of liquor store. "
  • John C.
"None there aren’t anything specific about this area nothing but drug trafficking takes place here. The only excitement is seeing the police crack down on the sell of drugs in this area"
  • Sean.kirkwood630
