We moved from Los Angeles, California to Edmond, Oklahoma May of 2022. My son finished his Freshman year at his old high school with struggling grades. His teachers had more than 40 students per class and had a hard time focusing on the kids. Also, California allowed schools to make their own decisions to have online schooling whenever Covid was in the rise. Well, that really hurt my son and all the other kid’s performance because it was hard to keep up with the changes. Now, Edmond Memorial is a whole different story. Less kids in the class room, teachers have more time to work with kids and the students here are much more polite. Hands down, Memorial High is a great school. My son has a 3.4 GPA and has teachers and care about his education. This is a must go to school.

My experience at cimmaron is not good. Some teachers are extremely rude for no absolute reason and my experience with a certain bus is almost even worse, the bus 114 driver is very rude and she yells too much. The principal is nice and when teachers are not around controlling your every move the school is fine but other than that it’s not so good. And the bathroom rule is very confusing they say no one can go the first ten minutes but some teachers get upset when you go during passing period. And some teachers get mad at kids for basically literally being kids for example laughing, and I get if there was work going on but when we’re not doing anything like before school starts we shouldn’t get in trouble especially when we’re not being loud.

This school ignored me asking for help when my son was in second grade and third grade and he was beat up by 3 boys each time. The school is filthy and the bathrooms are atrocious. I worked as a substitute for the school and was fired when I called the police regarding my son being jumped by the boys mentioned, and the principal (Wartley) lied and told them I wasn’t complying and wouldn’t bring my son to school for them to investigate. I wasn’t going to bring my son to be put back into the class room with the same boys that Jumped him but I DID bring him to speak with the principal and assistant but they wouldn’t speak to me and had the office girls tell me she was in a meeting. The school is failing for a reason. I’ve asked for a transfer (but wasn’t given one) to get my son out even with “school choice” as an option. They don’t supply tutoring or continual monitoring so the kids aren’t learning and are failing state testing scores. This school needs a huge revamping. The majority of the kids are from very low income families and given no regard for their education or their futures. As someone who worked at the school to see what was going and had been a parent of a child here for 4 yrs, I can tell you the score they receive is very well deserved.
