I do not recommend Vestal HISD. My son attended 1st grade here, and our experience was extremely disappointing. The district constantly emphasizes the importance of students attending school every day, yet I received phone calls almost daily about my son’s behavior. Instead of working collaboratively to support him, it often felt like they wanted to push him away.We were even told that he shouldn’t attend field trips because of his behavior, which was heartbreaking for him. To make matters worse, on the last day of school, I received a voicemail informing me that my son had to return to his original campus due to behavior issues. Waiting until the very last day to communicate something that significant was incredibly unprofessional.Families deserve a school district that supports children through challenges rather than making them feel unwelcome. If your child needs extra guidance or behavioral support, I encourage you to carefully consider whether this district is the right fit.It’s also concerning that HISD has received very low educational performance ratings, including a score of 1 in the area you’re referring to. Parents should research school performance and consider districts with stronger academic outcomes and better student support systems before enrolling their children.
