If your child has an IEP, know it will be a major struggle.Students were friendly.

I moved to this district over 2 years ago from a very large one in Central Florida, my son was in 2nd grade and my other son was starting K. I have been very impressed with the quality of education my boys have had here at this school. My boys are now in 4th and 2nd grades, and I haven't had one complaint (other than parking issues). Maybe it's the small town vibe, but I love that my kids are known by their names by the office staff and even the principle. In Florida schools they are so many kids in one school unless your kids are the trouble makers none of the staff take the time to get to know the kids, it's all about the tests. Here it may be about the tests too, but I feel the kids get a better all-around quality education, with recess and field trips, things that our old district got rid of to be able to pass those FCAT's. Parents are very active and everyone takes pride in the fact that they are part of the Four Georgians Community!

This is ye old public school. Fights, vaping in bathrooms etc etc. However, MOST of the teachers and staff really are great. I think the science curriculum is going above and beyond, (or maybe that is just my teacher), and so is the math. I do have quite a few bones to pick though. Bathrooms don't have locks and you will NEVER feel safe in there. (just trust me). cafeteria food is utterly disgusting and overcooked most of the time, which is expected, but the one thing that really pushes by buttons is that they REFUSE to salt food. I have never tasted a ounce of salt in any dish. It is as necessary nutrient, so why the heck they don't they use it, or even have it at the condiment and dressing table is beyond me. Breakfasts are just loaded with sugar and are never healthy. Gym teachers sit on their phones for twenty minutes and then sluggishly explain what game we are playing. By the time we know what we are doing, we have ten minutes left. This was a rant, but I guarantee you this was all %100 true. Special ED teachers are doing a good job from what I can tell. My parents have been in the school all of 2 times which leads the family engagement to be absolutely terrible, some of my friends parents don't even know what classes they have. However, our principal and staff are wonderful, coming up with super fun and engaging activities. Overall I think people are trying their hardest to make HMS a great school, but it is hard to do because of a few bad eggs. 2.5/5
