This review is for Del Norte Elementary, school but it wasn't on the list. DNES has a bully problem. The bigger issue is that the administration doesn't want to admit it. They can't fix it, if they don't even recognize that tbere is a problem. This is a major failure on DNES AND The Upper Rio Grande School District. If a bully is related in any way to anyone connected to the school or the High Valley Community Center, said bullies get a free pass to continue bullying other kids. The "mental health" of the bully is more of a concern than the safety of children that are on the receiving end of the bullying. DNES has fallen in state scores over the last few years. Safety is a huge concern, but the school chooses to ignore parents concerns.

My kids have done well in Del Norte High School. The teachers there really care about the students. The new principal is doing a good job, and I think all kids feel valued. As with any high school, athletes are at the top of the food chain, but I dont' see that reflected in the ideals of most of the teachers. I think that attitude comes more from the community. My child was not an athlete and was treated very well by teachers.
